NAS expert Synology has presented a new treat for friends of large-capacity storage solutions. The Synology DS1823xs+ is an astonishingly compact NAS with 166 x 343 x 243 mm that is supposed to offer a total of eight slots for hard drives. With the right accessories, it is supposed to be expandable to a total of 18 drives. Now a launch in Germany seems to be imminent.
Synology DS1823xs+ comes with 8 GB RAM
Synology is coming around the corner again with a new technology highlight. With its Synology DS1823xs+, the Taiwan-based manufacturer expands its extensive portfolio of available NAS. The new addition seems to be a real wolf in sheep’s clothing. At first glance, the 166 x 343 x 243 mm small NAS does not show its extensive capabilities. This already starts with the performance. The heart of the performance is an AMD Ryzen V1780B, which is supported by 8 GB of RAM in the basic version. However, if that is not enough, you can expand the working memory to a proud 32 GB.

Inside the NAS, you’ll find slots for a total of eight SATA hard drives. In addition, the Synology DS1823xs+ also offers two slots for M.2 SSDs. Furthermore, there are a total of three LAN ports on the NAS. While two of them rely on 1Gb Ethernet, the third one comes with 10Gb. The fourth LAN port is the maintenance task port. If that’s not enough for you, you can also upgrade it with a PCIe slot. Of course, the new addition is also equipped with the in-house DiskStation Manager (DSM). In Synology’s operating system, you once again get access to practical features such as useful backups.
Price and Availability
It sounds pretty promising what the Synology DS1823xs+ is capable of on paper. Should you be interested in the compact NAS, you can strike now. The manufacturer is calling for an MSRP of 1,904.00 euros (incl. VAT). More information is available on the official product page.
