VW ID.7 Tourer: E-combi now available in the configurator

Experts agree: with the VW ID.7, the Volkswagen Group has a hot iron in the fire. The VW ID.7 Tourer can now be configured online as an estate version of the electric car. The result is a very fair price, as VW promises a promotional bonus.

VW ID.7 Tourer comes with promotional bonus

Just a year ago, you really had to look for all-electric estates on the electric car market with a magnifying glass. Apart from the MG5, there wasn’t much choice. Fortunately, this has now changed. BMW is not the only company to offer an electric car with a family-friendly large trunk in the form of the i5 Touring. Volkswagen is also launching an estate with the VW ID.7 Tourer. You can now put together your dream model in the manufacturer’s online configurator, as VW has now announced. VW is asking a base price of 54,795 euros. However, in order to increase the attractiveness and compensate for the lack of the environmental bonus, the car giant is offering a promotional bonus for the model. As a result, the price drops to a much more attractive 50,035 euros.

A strong basis

The basic equipment will certainly be enough for many. Here you get a 286 hp electric motor, which receives the necessary energy from a 77 kWh battery. According to the WLTP standard, this should provide a maximum range of 607 km. The 15-inch multimedia display in the cockpit and dual-zone automatic air conditioning also come as standard. What is particularly remarkable, however, is that VW even includes the head-up display in the basic equipment.

As a rule, this is almost always a chargeable upgrade – at least for German manufacturers. Apple Car Play and Android Auto for connecting to your own smartphone are of course also on board. VW also wants to impress its potential buyers when it comes to AI. The all-electric estate works with the voice assistant Ida. This should enable convenient operation while driving, even without manual input.

You also get heated seats for the driver and front passenger, LED headlights at the front and rear, keyless access and stylish ambient lighting. The driving safety features also score points. Not only are there two lane assistants to help you stop and change lanes. You also get a reversing camera, traffic sign recognition and a high beam assistant. The adaptive cruise control is designed to prevent rear-end collisions.

VW ID.7 Tourer with useful upgrades

The equipment policy for VW’s e-combi is definitely appealing. After all, the manufacturer has packed everything that the average consumer expects from a modern car into the base model – and more. But of course there are a few additional features here and there that allow you to adapt the VW ID.7 Tourer even more to your needs. This includes an additional assistance system, for example. Here you get features such as a parking assistant, travel assist and a memory function. Another exciting feature is the surroundings view. This prevents ugly rim scratches when parking on kerbs, as you have a complete view of the vehicle.

At 1,455 euros, this package comes at a fair price. You can also have a towbar fitted. Cost point: 990 euros. The installation of a heat pump, which also costs 990 euros extra, is priced much more fairly. However, in view of a stated average consumption of 14.5 kWh, many people can certainly do without it. If you want to put together a car suitable for long journeys, you should perhaps consider the price-intensive Interior Package Plus. Although this costs a hefty 4,475 euros, it also seems to offer significantly more comfort.

The driver and front passenger get seats with massage function and lumbar support. The rear seats are also heated for the kids or other passengers. There is also a sound upgrade here. Speakers from Harman Kardon are designed to provide better sound. Unfortunately, the most expensive package does not include the heated steering wheel. You can only get this if you opt for the comfort package at a price of 1,800 euros. In addition to warm hands, you get an extended navigation system, three-zone automatic air conditioning, an inductive charging area and heating for the windshield.

Future of the bonus uncertain

With its purchase incentive, the manufacturer is certainly creating a great incentive to buy the new VW ID.7 Tourer. However, you should be quick if you want to secure the all-electric estate at a preferential price. After all, according to VW, the promotional bonus will only be available until March 31 for the time being. We are curious to see whether the Wolfsburg-based company will actually discontinue the bonus after that or keep it as a sales magnet.
