XPG Headshot Mouse Adapts Shape Individually to the User

The Taiwanese company Adata, which has so far attracted a lot of attention with its storage solutions, now wants to provide an appearance in the gaming sector with its subsidiary brand XPG auf. The XPG Headshot Gaming Mouse was presented at the IFA 2019 in Berlin for this purpose. The trends 4D printing and artificial intelligence (AI) were combined for its production.

In the production process of so-called 4D printing, as in 3D printing, a product is built up from individual layers using a printer. The fourth dimension is external factors such as heat, pressure or water, which can change the shape of the finished product at the end of the actual manufacturing process. In order to meet the highest ergonomic requirements, an AI should help the buyer to order the optimal mouse based on his mouse handle, his hand size and the desired surface.

According to Adata, in addition to the individually adapted shape, the design of the case ensures that the XPG headshot mouse is “ultra-light”. In concrete terms, this means a weight of 65 grams, which is significantly lighter than the average gaming mouse.

For the sensor, Adata uses the proven PixArt PMW 3389 with a resolution of up to 16,000 dpi. This optical sensor is a further development of the PMW 3360, which is used, for example, in the even lighter Glorious Model O mouse due to the honeycomb housing weighing only 59 grams. The previously published pictures of the interior also show Omron switches, the colour of which indicates a maximum service life of 20 million clicks. On the left side of the mouse you can also see two side buttons.

In the fourth quarter of 2019, a standard version of the XPG Headshot, whose shape and surface cannot be adapted, will be launched on the market first. The 4D version of the XPG Headshot Mouse will follow in the second quarter of 2020. The price of the standard version is expected to be less than 100 Euro, although this has not yet been officially confirmed; a price for the individualized version of the mouse has not yet been published.
