Litheli eWagon W1 Pro test: handcart meets electric motor

Handcarts are by no means a thing of the past. Even today, you can still see these four-wheeled transport helpers from time to time. That’s not surprising. After all, they are just as useful for a family outing as they are for transporting beer on a men’s day or as a mobile toolbox for gardening projects. But with two crates of beer and a drive uphill, the whole thing can become exhausting. Perhaps Litheli had this in mind when it equipped a handcart with an electric motor. In today’s Litheli eWagon W1 Pro test, we take a look at whether this is an exciting or simply unnecessary gadget.

Litheli eWagon W1 Pro test: Rapid assembly

When I opened the rather heavy package, I prepared myself for a lengthy set-up procedure. But far from it. After all, the eWagon W1 Pro arrives fully assembled. Here you can already see a big advantage of the gadget.

The handcart can be conveniently folded to the dimensions 64 x 32 x 78 cm. This makes it easy to transport in the car and also ensures that the handcart fits into small storage spaces.

To convert the trolley into its actual form of use, simply release the corresponding clip and pull the two sides apart. The trolley now unfolds like an accordion.

Incidentally, it is even easier to fold the handcart back into its transport-friendly folded shape. All you have to do is pull the tab provided on the bottom of the trolley. The wire mesh will then fold up again.

Litheli eWagon W1 Pro test: design and workmanship

I really like the look of the motorized handcart. At first glance, most people won’t be able to tell it apart from conventional models. Litheli has opted for a combination of friendly beige and light gray. Small splashes of color such as the orange on the pull handle are also appealing. With a weight of 15 kg, it is also quite light. This is certainly too much to carry the trolley across the park. But why does it have wheels?

The trolley is pulled using the retractable and extendable handle at the front. Thanks to the height adjustment, children can also pull the handcart without any problems. The storage options inside the handcart are also extremely practical. Here you can store your child’s water bottle or lunch box, for example. When driving, the handcart relies on four well-profiled wheels, which coped with a wide variety of surfaces in the test.

Whether on grass, sand or gravel – the eWagon always drove reliably. Only potholes are noticeable. Pneumatic tires would probably have provided even more comfort here. In terms of build quality, the Litheli gives no reason for criticism. It doesn’t crack or creak anywhere. The stroller can be set up and folded down again as smooth as butter. Thanks to the washable cover, little passengers can also spill on it.

The technical data indicates a high load capacity and resistance. The handcart should be able to withstand a maximum load of 60 kg. Protection against dust and water is guaranteed in accordance with the IPX4 standard. Incidentally, Litheli specifies a volume of 200 liters. If the goods to be transported are a little bulkier, the rear wall can simply be folded down.

Litheli eWagon W1 Pro test: 500 watt motor

Strictly speaking, up to this point the Litheli doesn’t really do much differently to other premium handcarts with a folding design. However, the special feature of the model becomes clear when you look at the front. This is where the battery compartment for the electric motor is located, which lights up the handcart.

Inside is a 20,000 mAh battery, which gives the trolley a ride time of just under half an hour. The associated motor is located on the rear wheel axle and offers a fairly good output of 500 watts. According to the manufacturer, this should enable the eWagon Pro to climb inclines of up to 10 degrees.

The battery itself is not permanently installed, but can be easily removed from the black compartment. When you hold the white battery in your hands, it looks a bit like a power bank. And appearances are not deceptive. The portable design has several advantages. For one thing, you don’t have to lug the handcart into your home to charge its battery.

Instead, you simply connect the battery to a charger via USB-C. Status LEDs allow you to see how far the charging process has progressed. On the other hand, you can actually use the battery as a power bank. At 20,000 mAh, that’s easily up to four smartphone charges.

It goes without saying that the handle also serves directly as a control unit. A small safety button on the top reveals the main button inside the handle. If you press and hold the main button, the electric motor in the rear axle pushes the trolley forward. You can adjust the level of assistance using a small dial. This ranges from a leisurely stroll to fast walking.

In practice, the handcart scored points with its very precise steering. It can even be pulled accurately around tight bends. The so-called safety key is located next to the battery compartment. This is a kind of emergency stop for the handcart. If you pull it out, the electric motor stops immediately. And what is the big advantage of the motorization? Clearly the ride comfort.

As a father, I have been allowed to pull various handcarts. As a rule, it’s only fun as long as you’re moving it on asphalt or a straight road. When I rolled the Litheli eWagon Pro up a slight incline with rough grassy ground, it was a real game changer. If you live in a more mountainous region, this model could possibly be the undisputed winner in terms of riding comfort.

Conclusion

Before testing the Litheli eWagon Pro, I was honestly cautiously skeptical. Who needs a handcart with an electric motor? After a few hours of trying it out, however, this skepticism turned into cautious enthusiasm. This gadget really is a practical everyday companion. And that also applies to non-parents or all those whose children are already too big for the weekend handcart tour. After all, the eWagon Pro is suitable for a variety of scenarios. You want to go to your neighbor’s garden party and have promised to bring your speakers and two crates of beer? No problem, the eWagon Pro makes transportation a breeze.

Do you have a gardening project to complete and don’t feel like walking several times to get the tools from A to B? Then throw everything into the handcart and simply drive it to the site. The eWagon Pro is a real asset, especially for heavy objects. If this appeals to you, why not try out this helpful gadget for yourself? Perhaps it will strike a chord with you too. However, if you don’t live in a mountainous region and only want to roll your handcart on flat asphalt anyway, the eWagon Pro is nothing more than a little gimmick. In this case, a conventional model without a motor will suffice.
