Portable powerbanks can be pretty useful. Especially when you are on the road for days without getting close to a power outlet. If you want to supply more than just your smartphone with new energy on the road, you won’t get far with a normal powerbank. That’s where the revamped model from NOVOO comes in. The NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh powerbank comes in a fancy gray-orange cardboard box, which does not turn out too big, but brings quite a bit of weight. The powerbank takes up a large part of the packaging and is held securely in a plastic sleeve.

In addition, there is a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable that is about one meter long, as well as a cardboard box that contains the quick-start guide. The manual is relatively thick, which is only due to the fact that it is available in six languages. Introduction and operation are covered in about three pages, whereby the functionality of a powerbank should be self-explanatory anyway. On the other hand, it is a bit of a shame that a power adapter is not included in the scope of delivery – standard smartphone power adapters can be used here, though.

Design and workmanship of NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh Power Bank

The basic design of the NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh Powerbank has hardly changed since its debut a few years ago, though capacity and port variety have increased over the years.

Accordingly, the new powerbank also presents itself in the form of a round, primarily silver-colored tube, which has four black contrasting squares as a design element. On the front, above the manufacturer’s logo, there is an LED display. Here, a maximum of five LEDs in a blue color scheme inform about the NOVOO Powerbank’s battery status.

The fan that cools the charger is located on the bottom. However, the top of the NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh powerbank is especially interesting. Besides the power button for turning the device on and off, the various ports are located there.

USB Type A with a maximum charging speed of 18 watts and USB Type C with 30 watts PowerDelivery are available. Safe and protected from rain or dirt, a classic AC power plug (230 volts, 50 Hz, 85 watts) completes the connectivity variety.

With a size of 156 mm x 81 mm (height x width), the powerbank still turns out to be relatively small and can easily find room in larger backpacks or travel bags at least. The weight, on the other hand, is a whopping 760 grams, which is why you sometimes think twice about actually taking the device with you.

Workmanship

The build quality of the NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh powerbank is quite good. You won’t find any gaps or rickety parts, even though the protective cap over the alternating current port is a bit loose – nevertheless, the seal looks convincing at first glance.

However, the USB ports are incomprehensibly not covered, which is why the powerbank does not have an IP certification. This is incomprehensible in our eyes: The case and AC port are protected, but USB ports are not? Too bad. Otherwise, there is nothing to complain about in terms of the workmanship of the NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh powerbank, considering the price.

Charging power and speed

With a battery capacity of 22,500 milliampere hours, the power bank is of course extremely generously equipped and thus, in theory, offers enough power to charge a smartphone, a game console and a notebook.

How much you can ultimately get out of the device and how often you can charge your smartphone or other devices naturally depends on your hardware and the number of connected devices.

Theoretically, the capacity of the NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh powerbank is enough to fully charge a MacBook Air M1 (around 4388 mAh), an iPhone 13 Pro (3095 mAh), and a Nintendo Switch OLED console (4310 mAh), and that’s even almost twice fully. A Google Pixel 6 Pro with its battery capacity of 5003 mAh can thus be fully charged around 4.5 times with one charge.

The powerbank itself is charged from 0 percent to 100 percent in just under three hours (when connected via USB-C with a 30 watt power adapter), or in about eight hours via USB-A. The charging speed of the connected devices depends on the maximum possible, i.e. 30 watts in the case of USB-C.

And if you do connect a device that needs a higher charging power than the powerbank can output, the device simply turns off instead of damaging itself or connected hardware. So using the NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh powerbank is a breeze.

It’s also pleasing that the power bank doesn’t get particularly hot even when charging three devices at the same time, even over the long term, and the built-in fan works very quietly. Besides a quiet electrical hum, no noises are perceptible.

Conclusion on the NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh Powerbank

The NOVOO powerbank does exactly what it is supposed to. With its enormous battery capacity, the powerbank supplies all connected devices with new energy on the go and proves to be a practical companion when there is no power outlet nearby.

There is nothing to complain about in terms of workmanship and charging performance, only a micro-USB port and a complete seal to protect the USB ports from moisture or dust would still be desirable.

No matter if it was a MacBook, smartphone, in-ear headphones, digital camera, headset or a small powerbank: The NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh powerbank quickly and smoothly charged all devices we put in front of it in our test.

With a weight of 760 grams, the portability is of course very limited, but this cannot be blamed on the powerbank at all. All in all, we can recommend the NOVOO 22500mAh 83 Wh powerbank with a clear conscience.
