Zendure AiO2400 test: structure, design and workmanship

  • simple, well thought-out design
  • simple and compact design
  • high-quality workmanship; weatherproof

Zendure offers the AiO2400 either as a storage battery for balcony power plants or as a complete all-in-one solution in combination with two solar panels, microwave converter and storage unit. We were able to take a closer look at the latter package as part of the Zendure AiO2400 test.

The individual components arrive separately packaged. All the accessories and cables required for installation and operation are of course included. The manufacturer also includes a practical stand for the new AiO 2400 battery, which makes it easy to set up.

Thanks to the well thought-out design, assembly is child’s play and requires no drilling at all. The AiO2400 measures 657 mm x 427 mm x 150 mm and weighs – without brackets – around 31 kg.

If desired, the storage system can be mounted directly on a wall, but if it is to be set up, the two-part stand must first be assembled. The inverter, in the complete package from Hoymiles, can be screwed to the back and its height can also be adjusted thanks to knurled screws, meaning that inverters from other manufacturers can also be accommodated without any problems.

This is connected to the storage unit via four MC4 cables, and the entire system is IP65-certified and therefore waterproof. The integrated heating unit also allows operation at temperatures of -20°C.

With its compact design and high-quality metal finish, the Zendure AiO2400 not only looks classy and valuable, it also feels that way. On the front, the power storage unit has two buttons with which it can be switched on and off, as well as enabling control via IoT.

Underneath, there are vertical cooling fins that provide a high-quality look and are also illuminated. Practical: a cover plate can be fitted to the top, which runs at a slight angle and drains rainwater to the rear.

Solar panels and performance

  • dual MPPT for two solar systems
  • up to 1,560 watts of power

Thanks to the dual MPPT, the Zendure AiO2400 can even control two solar systems independently of each other and thus optimize the efficiency, reliability and flexibility of the systems, for example. In practice, this proves to be extremely useful. For example, if one solar system is partially in the shade, the balcony power plant and storage system can continue to operate via the second system.

According to the manufacturer, the system is designed for a solar configuration of up to 1,560 watts; the two panels included in the scope of delivery offer an output of 210 watts, so there are still more than enough reserves.

Zendure AiO2400

It should be noted that the two MPPTs deliver different outputs. The first allows an input power of 440 – 520 watts, while the second even manages 880 to 1,040 watts. Theoretically, this means that four of the 210 W panels can be operated on one MPPT.

The open-circuit voltage must be lower than 60 volts, while the current on MPPT1 must not exceed 16A and on MPPT2 28A.

Zendure AiO2400 battery

  • Battery with a full 2.4 kWh capacity
  • high-quality and long-lasting LiFePO4 batteries

The Zendure AiO2400 acts as the battery for energy storage and has a capacity of a whopping 2,400 watt hours. The manufacturer uses particularly durable and efficient LiFePO4 batteries, which are said to retain up to 80 percent of their capacity even after 4,000 charging cycles.

The capacity can even be doubled by connecting a second storage unit, but unfortunately the manufacturer’s additional batteries cannot be used. However, the battery can be charged with up to 1,200 watts.

When charging at a higher power, the excess energy is fed directly into the household grid. When the battery is fully charged, the system automatically switches to bypass mode and feeds the collected solar energy directly into the household grid – very practical.

Zendure app: setup and control

  • practical and clear app
  • Create and set energy plans
  • customizable LED lighting

The linchpin of the Zendure AiO2400 system is the manufacturer’s smartphone app, which can be used not only to set up the system but also to control it. This requires registration at the beginning and then guides you through the set-up process.

The initial setup is carried out locally on the device, which can later be accessed remotely, while extensive statistics on charging processes, electricity generated and more are available.

The LED lighting on the front of the energy storage unit can also be customized within the app. This can shine in individual colors or different styles such as forest, party or fireflies – a nice design accent that sets the AiO system apart from many of its competitors.

Various energy plans can also be created and managed in the app. For example, it is possible to specify that solar charging has priority during a certain period and that the output power is limited to around 100 watts.

Alternatively, there are also various intelligent modes to choose from, which regulate the output power based on power consumption in real time, for example.

The interface of the Zendure app is clearly laid out so that even non-experts can get all the important information at a glance. The overviews, which provide information on the solar energy generated, the battery status and the electricity fed into the home network per day or per week, for example, are also interesting.

Savings potential of the Zendure AiO2400

The Zendure AiO2400 energy storage system currently costs €1,343.00 (RRP: €1,799). For the complete package including inverter and four 210-watt solar panels, the manufacturer is currently asking €1,929.00 (RRP: €2,898).

According to the manufacturer, up to 642.20 euros in energy costs can be saved per year in an ideal scenario thanks to the large battery and the performance on offer. All in all, the money for the complete package would be recouped in three years.

In practice, of course, the savings potential depends on many different factors. Those who generate, store and use electricity according to schedule and demand can of course save considerably more.

Zendure AiO2400

The EUR 642 savings per year therefore only apply to the ideal case and are probably only rarely achievable in practice in this form. However, there is undoubtedly enormous savings potential, which makes the purchase attractive. I would make a rough and realistic estimate that with normal use, the costs will be recouped in around four to five years.

Zendure AiO2400 test: Conclusion

With the Zendure AiO2400 energy storage system, the manufacturer offers a convenient, stylish and extremely practical all-in-one solution for energy generation, which initially tears a deep hole in your wallet with a high starting price, but then pays for itself over the years.

The solution impresses with its simple yet attractive design, which allows it to be installed on a balcony or patio without having to put up a bulky block.

The weather resistance and the practical and clear app are also appealing, while the Zendure AiO2400 with its simple installation is also aimed at all those who are looking for a well thought-out system that is ready to use quickly.

We also like the fact that two solar circuits can be combined at the same time thanks to the dual MPPT. In our opinion, the bundle of battery, solar panels and compact inverter is particularly exciting, as you save additional money here.

The result is an absolutely coherent overall package, which is why we can recommend the Zendure AiO2400 to anyone interested in this area.
