Suppress number Samsung: How it works

If you make a call with your own smartphone, you usually send your phone number along with it. This allows the person you are calling to see who is on the other end of the line. Sometimes, however, it can make sense to suppress your own phone number – either to protect your own data or to avoid being added to the list of call centers when you call a service number. But how does this work on Galaxy smartphones? How to suppress a number on Samsung.

Suppress number Samsung: Switch off caller ID

Don’t want everyone to know your phone number? You can quickly and easily suppress your number for outgoing calls with a Samsung smartphone. However, it works a little differently to number suppression on the iPhone.

However, suppressing the number on Samsung Galaxy smartphones is also quick and easy. Proceed as follows:

  1. Open the “Phone” app on your Samsung smartphone.
  2. Click on the “More options” icon (marked with three dots) at the top right.
  3. Then select “Settings”.
  4. On the new screen, tap on “Additional services”, where you will find the item “Show your caller ID” at the top.
  5. Tap on it and select the “Never” option in the following menu.

This will always suppress the phone number. You can also choose between the options “Network standard” (here the network standard determines whether the phone number is transmitted) or “Always” (here your number is always transmitted).

Tip: On some older Samsung smartphones, the designation is not “Show your caller ID” but “Show own phone number”. If this is the case for you, you must select “Hide number” in the next menu.

The function to hide the phone number can also be found on some Samsung smartphones under “Settings -> Call settings -> All calls -> Hide own number”.

Suppress phone number once: GSM code

The above solution for suppressing numbers for Samsung ensures that your phone number is never transmitted. However, there is also a way to suppress your own number once.

Nummer unterdrücken: GSM-Code
With the GSM code #31# you can suppress your number once

How does it work? Simply place the code #31# in front of the respective number when making a call. This will start an anonymous call. The number is then as follows, for example: #31#0123456789.
