Narwal Robo: Robot vacuum cleaner with pioneering obstacle detection

With the Narwal Robo, the manufacturer of the same name wants to add another device to its line-up of powerful robot vacuums. Just like the company’s other robots, this one should also impress with its stylish design. Narwal also promises extensive technical features and numerous helpful functions. We were able to see the smart household helper in person during a presentation and share our experiences with you.

Narwal Robo comes in a modern design

The manufacturer has already proven that Narwal can create stylish robot hoovers with its Narwal Freo (Review) and Narwal Freo X Ultra (Review) models. The Narwal Robo also impresses with its modern look. As a result, it should once again be able to fit easily into a variety of living environments.

Narwal has also opted for a pleasingly compact design. This means it shouldn’t look too bulky even in smaller homes. In contrast to the Freo series, the Narwal Robo does not come in white, but in an elegant shade of gray. The build quality remains the same, which also gives the Robo a pleasingly high-quality appearance.

Next generation obstacle detection

But it’s not just the robot hoover’s external values that should be right. Narwal apparently does not want to compromise when it comes to technical features either. TwinAI Dodge is an exciting camera technology. This is based on two 1,080p RGB cameras, each of which has an AI chip at its disposal.

These are used for obstacle detection. Even flagship robotic vacuum cleaners still have massive problems in this area, which is why Narwal has obviously focused on this topic. According to Narwal, the AI should ensure that the robot can recognize over 100 different household objects.

In practice, this should ensure that the smart household helper can accurately detect and avoid cables and pet droppings, for example. Next-Gen AI DirtSense also sounds extremely exciting. This advanced technology enables the robot to detect both dry and wet dirt and then apply targeted cleaning strategies.

This should ensure effective cleaning even for stubborn stains. With two active high-resolution cameras, data protection naturally also plays a major role. Narwal wants to meet this understandable requirement with a local data chip.

According to the manufacturer, the chip guarantees reliable protection of user data. This is possible because the collected data is only processed locally on the device itself. This is a major advantage over the competition. After all, user data is processed in the manufacturer’s cloud as standard.

Mop washing system with AI temperature control

Artificial intelligence is also used in the work of the mop washing system. When the Narwal Robo returns to the cleaning station, the cleaning process does not always follow the same pattern. Instead, the robot varies between a one-stage and two-stage cleaning depending on the degree of soiling.

A dirt sensor is used to determine the most suitable washing mode. The 45°C warm water wash is the gentlest, and is used for light soiling. For stubborn dirt, a 60°C high-temperature rinse is then used.

Last but not least, 75°C pasteurization is always used. This is intended to prevent the formation of bacteria. After wet cleaning, the mops are dried. Hot air at 40°C is used for this. This is again intended to prevent bacteria and also ensures that the vacuum cleaner can be used again quickly.

The Narwal Robo stands out from other robot vacuums thanks to its precise obstacle detection, targeted cleaning strategies and advanced mop cleaning technologies.
