Snapdragon X Elite Dev Kit: Mini PC comes with 32 GB RAM and Wi-Fi 7

Yesterday, Microsoft announced 16 different notebooks with the upcoming ARM chip Snapdragon X Elite under the Copilot PC label. With the Snapdragon X Elite Dev Kit, the manufacturer is now offering a mini PC that uses the Windows on Arm platform and comes with powerful features.

Snapdragon X Elite Dev Kit unveiled

Although the upcoming ARM chip Snapdragon X Elite will not be officially presented until the beginning of June, a whole series of notebooks with the SoC have already been unveiled. The new chip is a perfect fit for mini PCs, as Qualcomm itself has probably noticed.

With the Snapdragon X Elite Dev Kit, a corresponding model has now been presented, which is primarily aimed at developers. However, the dev kit shows quite impressively what future mini PCs with the chip could look like.

The Mini PC measures just 199 mm x 175 mm x 35 mm, making it more compact than Apple’s Mac Mini, for example. The simple black housing is adorned with the manufacturer’s logo on the top, while the front features a USB-C port.

Most of the connections can be found at the rear, where there are two USB-C (USB 4), two USB-A, Ethernet, HDMI and a 3.5 mm jack connection.

The Snapdragon X Elite Dev Kit is based on the X1E-84-100, the fastest chip in the series. This has twelve performance cores and clock frequencies of up to 3.8 GHz, which clock up to a maximum of 4.3 GHz in boost mode.

The GPU achieves 4.6 TLOPs and should therefore also be quite suitable for gaming, which should also be possible on the ARM chip. The dev kit is supplied with a 180 watt power supply unit, which suggests that the chip should draw the maximum TDP of 80 watts. The equipment also includes 32 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a 512 GB SSD.

Price and availability

The Snapdragon X Elite Dev Kit can now be pre-ordered directly from Qualcomm at a price of 899.99 US dollars.
