Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro Review: top smartwatch with a bitter aftertaste

The TicWatch Pro 5 from Mobvoi is currently the best WearOS smartwatch, as we already agreed in last year’s test. At least it was, because the new Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro surpasses the previous top model in our test. However, with a significantly increased battery life and small improvements to details, there is still a bitter aftertaste for buyers of the normal Pro 5 – and unfortunately we already know this from Mobvoi.

Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro Review: Even more robust

  • minimal change to the design
  • Sapphire glass instead of Gorilla Glass
  • slightly flatter housing

Surprise: The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is basically a slightly improved version of last year’s Pro 5. Which is why this review can be quite short. If you want to find out more, you should definitely read the test of the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5. We have described everything in detail there.

But what’s really new about the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro? Not too much has changed. There are a few changes to the design and workmanship. On the one hand, this concerns the 24 mm strap made of black fluororubber, which has been given a new coat of paint, and on the other hand the ring around the 48 mm case, which also has a new, arrow-shaped grain.

At the same time, the case has become 0.25 millimeters thinner (11.9 mm), which, despite its inconspicuous size, makes it more comfortable to wear, especially on smaller and medium-sized wrists.

The rotating crown and the side button have also become slightly larger, which further improves the impressive operation.

The already impressive workmanship has also been given an upgrade. While the previous model used a display protection made of Corning Gorilla Glass, sapphire glass is now used, which provides even better protection against scratches and drops.

Features and battery life

  • identical, but very good features
  • battery life increased by 10 hours
  • no LTE module

However, the features are largely identical: the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro also comes with a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of system memory.

Bluetooth 5.2 is also on board, as is WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and NFC, which also enables mobile payment. We already know all of this from the normal Pro 5, but unfortunately there is still no LTE module in the new edition.

Nothing has changed in terms of fitness functions and sensors either: GPS tracking, heart rate measurement, blood oxygen saturation or sleep tracking – with the exception of a temperature sensor, nothing is left to be desired. However, a few more workout types for the fitness functions have been added.

What is particularly exciting, however, is the battery life, even though the capacity remains unchanged at 628 mAh. While the Pro 5 offered up to 80 hours of battery life in smartwatch mode, the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro now offers up to 90 hours – and a whopping 55 days in Essentials mode.

During the test, I actually achieved a runtime of 89.5 hours with constant blood pressure and blood oxygen measurement, notifications, active NFC and occasional sports tracking.

Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro
90 hours of battery life is outstanding for WearOS

The Enduro model lives up to its name. Only Mobvoi itself probably knows why the same chip and the same hardware now work even more efficiently.

But we really don’t want to complain. There is currently no smartwatch on Google’s WearOS platform that lasts longer. And anyone who doesn’t feel like plugging in their wearable every day to charge it will be absolutely delighted.

What I like about the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro

  • excellent AMOLED display
  • accurate sensors
  • excellent performance

The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is an outstanding smartwatch. Period. The 1.43-inch OLED display is excellent and is complemented by a successful, colorful always-on display.

The performance also offers no cause for criticism. Both the navigation in WearOS and through the apps works flawlessly and without jerks, while the intuitive user interface is excellent to use.

A big plus point is, of course, as mentioned, the excellent battery life, which no other smartwatch with Google services currently achieves. The sensors also work quite accurately. The pedometer and heart rate monitor are just as precise as the sleep tracking, which divides your sleep into different phases.

All of this can be tracked in detailed statistics via the Mobvoi Health app, while mobile payment via Google Wallet skilfully rounds off the outstanding range of functions.

What I don’t like about the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro

  • outdated WearOS 3.5
  • only one color and size
  • hardly any innovations worth mentioning

On paper, there is not much to criticize about the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro. It is a shame that the wearable is currently only available in one color (okay, the Pro 5 later came in a second color).

The fixed size of 48 mm is also perhaps a little too much for women or people with rather small wrists, but even that cannot be held against the smartwatch.

However, the wearable is still running Wear OS 3.5, even though Wear OS 4 has been released since August 2023 and version 5 is already in the starting blocks. And in view of the manufacturer’s past, it is currently completely unclear whether the operating system will be updated in the foreseeable future (or ever).

There is no concrete update plan and owners of the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra (our review) will remember with regret that the Wear OS 3 update promised at the time took over a year (!) to arrive. So I’m more than skeptical.

Apart from the lack of LTE and eSIM connectivity, there is only one real point of criticism and that is the slow GPS module. Even outdoors, it takes far too long for the GPS to find a signal and for sports tracking to begin. Other competitors manage this much faster.

Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro test: Conclusion

The conclusion about the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is somewhat difficult. Basically, it can be summarized very quickly: If you’re looking for the best smartwatch currently available in the Google ecosystem, this is exactly where you’ll find it.

The performance and battery life are unrivaled, the fitness and health tracking is very accurate. The display is outstanding and the range of functions, apart from LTE and eSIM, leaves absolutely nothing to be desired.

And yet there is still a bitter aftertaste for anyone who already owns the normal Pro 5. Especially when it comes to the increased battery life and more robust workmanship. There is also a big question mark over the operating system, which is already out of date with Wear OS 3.5 – whether an update is coming and if so, when, is completely unclear.

But if that doesn’t bother you and you’re looking for an excellent smartwatch in the Android ecosystem including Google services, there’s currently nothing better than the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro.

However, the TicWatch Pro 5, which has now dropped significantly in price, is the wiser choice in most cases thanks to its almost identical features.

93/100

The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is currently the best Wear OS smartwatch and improves on its predecessor in detail, but there are hardly any reasons to switch. The operating system is also outdated.
