Acer Halo Swing: Smart speaker with display and RGB lighting

The manufacturer presented the Acer Halo Swing, a mobile, smart Bluetooth speaker, at CES 2023. It features RGB lighting and a pixel display that can show the time, among other things. It can also be operated via Google Assistant if desired.

The Acer Halo Swing speaker

With the Acer Halo Swing, you can expect a chic yet unusual Bluetooth speaker that makes a lot of noise from both a technical and a visual point of view. Despite its compact dimensions, the speaker wants to provide a rich sound, not least thanks to DTS support and an integrated subwoofer. However, Acer has not yet mentioned any concrete technical details.

The Halo Swing is IPX5 certified and waterproof. It is supposed to allow a runtime of up to 10 hours wirelessly and can easily be recharged with the transparent USB-C charging station including RGB lighting. On the go, it can be taken wirelessly with the integrated and detachable leather strap or hung up.

The Acer Halo Swing transmits wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.0 (although the press release speaks of Bluetooth 5.2), but it can also be integrated into the WLAN at home thanks to Wi-Fi 6. Google Fast Pair is supported as well as the possibility to combine several Halo 2 for a surround sound.

Operation via Google Assistant

The smart speaker can be controlled by voice via Google Assistant. At the same time, smart home devices can then be controlled via the speaker. There is also a special app from the manufacturer, via which fine-tuning is additionally possible.

The microphone can be muted quickly and easily via a dedicated button on the top of the Acer Halo Swing. Other buttons allow increasing or decreasing the volume.

In addition, the Halo Swing offers a pixel display that can show the time, for example. Notifications such as new emails, appointments in the calendar, reminders or messages can also be displayed on it.

An AUX port is also offered for connecting to other audio sources. The RGB lighting is even said to be able to dance to the beat of the music, with effects also customizable via the companion app if desired.

Price and availability

When and at what price the Bluetooth speaker Acer Halo Swing will be released in Germany is currently unclear. The German product website is already online, but does not provide any details. In the US, the smart speaker will start at a price of $229, but a date has not been communicated here yet either.
