Acer Swift Edge launches as ultra-light notebook with 3.8K OLED display
The Acer Swift Edge (SFE16-42) is a new, especially light notebook that wants to convince with a strong configuration and a high-resolution OLED display. A 16-inch panel with a 3.8K resolution and full DCI-P3 color space coverage is offered.
The Acer Swift Edge in detail
The Acer Swift Edge weighs just 1.17 kg and, according to the manufacturer, is primarily aimed at business users. The device, which is only 12.95 mm high, has a magnesium-aluminum case and is supposed to be characterized by a simple design.
The equipment is also impressive. AMD Ryzen 7000 processors are under the hood, which should also allow creative professionals to get their money’s worth.
So far, only a model with a Ryzen 7 7735U processor, which clocks with up to 4.75 GHz, can be found in the Acer store. It is supported by 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM, which can be expanded to a maximum of 32 GB. The system memory is one terabyte, and AMD’s Radeon 680M is used as the graphics solution.
High-resolution OLED display
A highlight of the Acer Swift Edge is undoubtedly the 16-inch OLED display, which resolves with 3,840 x 2,400 pixels. It offers a refresh rate of 60 hertz and gets 500 nits bright. As is typical for OLEDs, the response time is an excellent 0.2 milliseconds.
The DCI-P3 color space is covered by a full 100 percent. Furthermore, it has VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 and TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe display certifications.
The interfaces are also extremely modern. Fast Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 are offered, while HDMI 2.1, 2x USB 3.2 Type-A, 2x USB4 Type-C with fast charging and a 3.5 mm jack are available. Acer does not mention details about the battery capacity, but about the charging speed, which is 65 watts.
Price and availability
The Acer Swift Edge (SFE16-42) ultrabook is now available in stores. The recommended retail price starts at 1,699 euros.
