Anker GaNPrime chargers with up to 120 watts presented

With the 735 Charger and 737 Charger, the manufacturer has introduced two compact and high-quality GaN chargers that form the Anker GaNPrime series. They each offer two USB-C ports, as well as a USB-A port, and differ in terms of their charging power, which is 65 watts and 120 watts, respectively.

GaN chargers use gallium nitride (GaN), which enables exceptionally energy-efficient charging performance in a compact design. According to Anker, the new 735 Charger and 737 Charger use a hybrid flyback architecture (HFB), thanks to which energy loss is reduced by up to 21 percent.

At the same time, GaN technology can reduce carbon emissions by up to 30 percent compared to slower and less efficient silicon. At least in the case of the 737 Charger of Anker GaNPrime chargers, which realizes a charging power of 120 watts. In contrast, the 735 Charger with 65 watts reduces energy loss by 7.2 percent.

Both chargers also use PowerIQ 4.0 technology, which monitors the power demand of connected devices in real time and intelligently distributes the required power. This is said to benefit charging performance while reducing charging time when charging multiple devices.

The Anker GaNPrime devices comes with extensive compatibility with more than 1,000 devices. For example, they have been tested with the MaxBook Pro 13-inch M1, Microsoft Surface Book 2 and iPads from the 2015 model generation, but also with smartphones and accessories such as the iPhone 13, Samsung Galaxy S22, Nintendo Switch or Apple AirPods.

ActiveShield 2.0 also ensures intelligent temperature monitoring of the charger at all times and thus also additional safety. Here, the charging temperature is measured up to 3 million times per day to guarantee safe charging. At the same time, the operating temperature has been lowered and the size of the charger reduced by 53 percent.

Connections and charging performance

Anker GaNPrime chargers come in two versions. Both offer the same ports (two times USB Type-C and one time USB Type-A), but differ in terms of charging power and its distribution.

The Anker 735 Charger (GaNPrime 65W) offers a maximum of 65 watts, which can be fully accessed on both USB-C ports. The USB-A port charges with a maximum of 22.5 watts. The charger measures 38 x 35 x 66 mm and weighs 144 grams.

The Anker 737 Charger (GaNPrime 120W) is a bit bigger and significantly more powerful with a maximum charging power of 120 watts. It measures 43 x 35.3 x 80 mm and weighs 203 grams. Here, 100 watts are available at each of the USB-C ports plus another 22.5 watts at the USB-A port.

Prices and Availability

The two Anker GaNPrime chargers are available now directly from the manufacturer, as well as from Amazon. Think Anker 735 Charger with 65 watts for an MSRP of 59.99 euros. The Anker 737 Charger is available for 94.99 euros.
