ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701 with 300 Hz Display Unveiled at IFA 2019

In addition to Razer, the Taiwanese company ASUS also presented a series of new Republic of Gamers (ROG) laptops from the Strix and Zephyrus series at IFA 2019. Of particular interest is the Zephyrus-S-GX701, the first gaming laptop to feature a 300 Hz display. According to ASUS, the 25 percent higher refresh rate compared to 244 Hz displays should give players a decisive advantage in terms of reaction speed, especially with eSports titles.

ASUS has not yet shown the exact hardware specifications of the notebook at the trade fair. The presented prototype of the Zephyrus-S-GX701 with a 17-inch display features a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080, whose clock rate was increased to 1,230 MHz in turbo mode. In addition, a 15-inch Zephyrus-S-GX502 was presented, whose 300 Hz display was driven by a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 with 1.540 MHz turbo clock. In addition, both notebooks supported VESA DisplayHDR 400 for a brilliant color display in addition to 300 Hz.

These high cycle rates are possible thanks to the ROG Active Aerodynamic System, which is designed to generate a higher cooling performance thanks to the optimised air flow.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus-S-GX701 will be launched in October. The other models presented at the show will follow much later. ASUS has not published prices for any of the new 300 Hz devices.
