Bose QuietComfort 45: Over-ear ANC headphones revealed in detail thanks to extensive leak

Bose will soon unveil the latest model of its QuietComfort over-ear headphones. Thanks to an extensive leak, specifications, information about the battery life and the design of the Bose QuietComfort 45 have already been revealed in advance. With the new top model, Bose wants to build on the success of the TWS in-ear headphones QuietComfort Earbuds, which were able to fully impress in our test.

Bose QuietComfort 45: The features of the ANC headphones

With the QuietComfort 45, Bose will soon unveil the successor to the popular QC 35 II. Roland Quandt on WinFuture and the leaker Snoopy have already revealed almost all details of the over-ear headphones in advance.

The design is strongly based on the previous model, but Bose is said to have noticeably reduced the weight. The manufacturer relies on materials like synthetic leather and nylon, while especially soft ear pads are supposed to provide high wearing comfort. It remains to be seen whether these are more durable than the predecessor (one of the biggest criticisms of the QC 35 II).

The QuietComfort 45 rely on improved active noise cancellation (ANC) as well as a transparency mode that amplifies ambient noise instead of blocking it out. Bose itself refers to this as “world-class ANC functionality.”

Bose also once again relies on the TriPort acoustic architecture and integrates an active equalizer (Active EQ). This automatically boosts or cuts bass and treble depending on the volume.

Connectivity and battery life

Wirelessly, the Bose QuietComfort 45 can be connected to smartphones and other devices via Bluetooth 5.1. Alternatively, though, wired operation is also possible using the included 3.5mm jack cable.

The battery shrinks a bit compared to the QC 35 II. Instead of 495 mAh, the QQC 45 only has 460 mAh – but the battery runtime is said to have improved and increased from 20 hours to 24 hours. Charging is exclusively done via USB-C, and a complete charging process takes about 2.5 hours. 15 minutes on the mains supply the over-ear headphones with enough juice for two and a half hours of music playback.

Bose QuietComfort 45 Scope of Delivery

In terms of app connectivity, the Bose QuietComfort 45 are said to once again rely on the Bose Music app for iOS and Android, which allows for custom setup and the creation of shortcuts, among other things – we already liked these features with the QuietComfort Earbuds.

Price and availability

The Bose QuietComfort 45 are expected to be available in the US for an MSRP of $329.00. Presumably, once again the colors black and white (“Soapstone”) will be available. We assume that the RRP in Germany will be around 350 Euros. There is no release date yet, but the official announcement should be made soon.
