Buy PlayStation 5: Sale launched at Sony with registration

If you want to buy a PlayStation 5, you will still have to be very lucky in 2022 – and thus more than a year after the release of Sony’s current console. The availability of the PS5 is still almost non-existent, and new contingents are often sold out within a few seconds. Now Sony itself offers the PlayStation 5 for registered interested parties.

The availability of the PS5 is still a vexed issue among interested buyers today. As soon as new consoles reach retailers, they are immediately sold out within seconds. Scalpers, on the other hand, demand horrendous prices for the console, which are far above the MSRP of 499.00 Euros for the version with a Blu-ray drive.

In November 2021, Sony started its own sales of the PlayStation 5 with PlayStation Direct, but only outside of Europe. However, the console was hardly ever available there. Now the manufacturer is making a new attempt for all those who want to buy a PlayStation 5. On a Sony website, registration is now possible, which requires an active PlayStation Network ID.

The website goes on to say that there would once again only be a “highly limited contingent of consoles” available. Among all those registered, Sony would then select users based on random chance to chew the PlayStation 5.

Those who are among the chosen will receive an email from Sony with further information on the ordering process and additional details, as it continues.

After receiving the email, interested parties have a window of time to complete the purchase and only while stocks last. A maximum of one PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console can be ordered per customer.

In addition to Germany, the service is also available in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and the United States. A VISA or Mastercard credit card is required for purchase in Germany and the Benelux countries. How big the contingent of consoles will be and when the PlayStation 5 sale will actually start at Sony is still completely unclear at the moment, though.
