CES 2022: Razer announces three new Blade notebooks at once

CES 2022 is just around the corner and Razer can directly shine with a fat announcement. The gaming experts of the US PC gaming expert have presented three completely new notebooks of the Blade series. They are not only supposed to have more graphics power. Faster RAM and the latest processors should also equip the upcoming Blades for current PC titles in a chic look. We take a closer look at the new introductions.

The latest hardware

Regardless of whether it’s a Blade 14, 15 or 17, Razer promises to install the latest PC hardware, regardless of the size. For one thing, there are the processors, which optionally come from AMD or Intel. The Blade 14 features the ultra-fast Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, which is probably one of the most powerful AMD graphics units on a mobile device. At the heart of the Blade 15 and 17, respectively, are again said to be the latest 12th generation Intel Core H-series processors. According to Razer, these offer a revolutionary new design with a powerful hybrid architecture. Clock rates of up to 5.0 GHz should not be a problem. Since the latest Blade models will not be cheap hardware, Razer again offers workmanship on the highest level.

The case in particular, which is made of light but resistant CNC-milled aluminum, is very appealing. According to the manufacturer, the operating comfort is also first-rate. The keyboard in particular is supposed to offer a great typing experience. It is already clear at first glance that this is Razer’s Blade series. After all, the three new models once again come in an extremely slim design. To ensure efficient ventilation despite the thin profile, the manufacturer provides the gaming notebooks with practical rubber feet. The very special hinge design should again ensure that you can use the notebook ergonomically correct.

Blade 14: The smallest of the bunch

With a screen diagonal of 14 inches, the Blade 14 is the smallest of the newly introduced models. And the drop rate is particularly high for this device. After all, Razer won the award for the most powerful 14-inch gaming laptop of 2021 with the predecessor. According to the manufacturer, this will now be topped once again. This is made possible by the latest AMD Ryzen 9 processor. It is supported by a full 16 GB of DDR5 RAM. Together, the two components are supposed to guarantee a fast gaming experience.

The design language is clear. Thus, the Blade 14 is an extremely thin gaming notebook that should still offer plenty of performance. Razer wants to improve the gaming performance in particular. This means that the built-in MUX switch is supposed to have improved the gaming performance considerably. In this case, it is possible to switch from the internal to an external GPU, which should enable maximum gaming power. Features that were previously only reserved for the bigger siblings are now also found in the Blade 14. For one, there is the fingerprint-resistant coating, which is supposed to prevent unwelcome finger taps. A 1,080p IR webcam ensures that you can now see twice as sharply as in the predecessor.

Blade 15: The all-rounder

According to Razer, the Blade 15 offers the latest chipsets from NVIDIA GeForce and Intel. Besides the pure graphics and computing power that you get with it, the displays are also supposed to be able to shine. Speaking of the display. Once again, you can choose from different configurations. Razer apparently manages to combine a high resolution with a high refresh rate. You can choose between Full HD and 360 Hz or QHD with 240 Hz.

Those who like it particularly sharp can alternatively reach for a UHD resolution with 144 Hz. Meanwhile, Razer promises a better refresh rate of 60 Hz for the new IPS-grade display. Users who not only want to gamble but also work with the slim notebook will be happy about the 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. This is supposed to ensure high contrasts and brilliant colors. Due to its size and powerful components, the Blade 15 is likely to be the most popular model of the sleek Razer series in 2022 as well.

Blade 17: The pro

With the Blade 17, Razer launches a gaming laptop that is not only suitable for gaming. Its sheer size and high performance should qualify it for game development on top of that. Thanks to its 17-inch display, it is probably a good alternative to a conventional desktop PC. Razer promises very specific improvements to the PC setup. In particular, the company wants to have decisively improved the notebook’s audio features as well as the battery.

Thus, the Blade 17 has a total of eight speakers. Thanks to the 82 watt-hour battery, several hours of gaming should be possible without an active power connection without any problems. In view of a battery increase of 10 watt hours, this is quite believable. If the battery is empty, Razer promises the shortest possible charging process. A powerful 280 watt charger is supposed to make this possible.

Practical features

Even aside from the powerful gaming hardware, the features are really impressive. For example, all three models offer plenty of ports, such as the latest generation USB-C or HDMI 2.1. Customized gaming benefits, such as Xbox Game Pass and Xbox GameBar, are also said to be on board. Razer again highlights the Chroma features of its keyboard as another highlight. All three Blade models are supposed to have the in-house RGB feature. In particular, the illumination can be individually adjusted via software.

Price and Availability

You can purchase the new Razer Blade 14 on razer.com and at select retailers starting February 10, 2022. The smallest Blade has an MSRP of at least 2,199.99 Euros, depending on the features. If you are interested in the Blade 15, you can already buy it on January 25, 2022. The RRP of the 15-inch model is at least 2,799.99 Euros. Razer wants to charge an MSRP starting at 2,999.99 Euros for the Blade 17. You can also order the largest of the three models from January 25.
