With the Corsair SCUF Nomad, the manufacturer has introduced a new gamepad for smartphones that is designed to enable console-level gaming on cell phones. The whole thing is visually reminiscent of the Razer Kishi V2.
Corsair SCUF Nomad presented
Corsair launches the new Corsair SCUF Nomad under the SCUF Gaming brand, which is known for its high-quality professional controllers such as the Reflex Pro (our test). This is a Bluetooth controller developed for the iPhone that is designed to significantly improve control in games.
The gamepad features two full-size analog sticks that are designed to resist joystick drift thanks to a reverb effect. In addition to the two upper triggers and bumpers, the gamepad offers two additional paddles on the back, as well as pleasantly large and textured grips, which should ensure a high level of comfort.
There will also be a companion iOS app that can be used to easily select and start all games. This also applies to Remote Play games and apps that can be played and launched directly from the console or PC.
The app also allows you to create individual profiles to adjust the sensitivity of the triggers, the responsiveness of the thumbsticks and the assignment of all buttons. Each game can be equipped with individual profiles.
Connection via Bluetooth
However, the Nomad is not connected via a Lightning or USB-C connection, but instead pairs with the iPhone via Bluetooth 5.0. This means that the gamepad must be supplied with power in order to function.
According to Corsair, the battery lasts up to 16 hours before it needs to be charged via USB-C. The controller is compatible with iOS 16 and can be used with the current iPhone 15 as well as older models and weighs 228 grams. It measures 202 x 101 x 51 mm and is of course adjustable in width.
Price and availability
The Corsair SCUF Nomad is now available for pre-order in the manufacturer’s online store and will be shipped from July 8, 2024. It is available in white and black. The recommended retail price is 119.99 euros.
