The CrownCruiser e-bike at a glance

The new CrownCruiser e-bike wants to stand out. For this, the manufacturer relies on a fusion of retro looks and futuristic design elements, with which one wants to stand out visually from the broad mass of e-bikes. But the CrownCruiser, whose campaign has now been launched on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, also wants to impress technically.

Visually, the e-bike from Great Britain is reminiscent of classic racing motorcycles and features a lightweight monocoque frame made of carbon fiber. According to the manufacturer, the high-quality materials are 61 times stronger than steel and 40 percent lighter than aluminum. Despite high-quality workmanship, the manufacturer equips its e-bike with a lifetime warranty on the frame.

The replaceable battery is inserted into the frame from above. There are two versions to choose from: The top model comes with 48 volts and 14.5 Ah, which should be enough for a range of up to 160 km at the lowest support level. The smaller battery comes with 36 V and 11.6 Ah. But the motor is also integrated into the frame of the e-bike.

Due to EU regulations, a 250 watt motor output and a pedal assist of up to 25 km/h is planned here. In the U.S., the CrownCruiser will also be offered with 750 watts of power including throttle, which allows speeds of up to 50 km/h.

Fine technology and maximum safety

Power transmission from the motor and pedals of the e-bike, which weighs around 25 kg, is via a Gates belt drive, which is particularly durable and maintenance-free. The suspension in the front fork is almost completely covered by the frame or fairing.  26 x 3 inch tires are used, which are supposed to provide high riding comfort. A carbon rim cover is also available as an option.

A 2,000-lumen LED headlight at the front provides additional safety in road traffic. A taillight and disc brakes are also installed at the factory. Thanks to smartphone connectivity, additional safety is provided. Once connected, it is possible to lock and unlock the e-bike, and it also includes an anti-theft device including tracking via the app. A fall sensor is also installed, which sends an alarm to stored emergency contacts via the app in the event of an emergency.

The smartphone is held securely with the help of an integrated cradle in the frame, which also features an induction charger – so the device is charged directly while riding. Alternatively, it can also be mounted in the field of vision in the handlebar mount, which is also available, to be used as a navigation system, for example.
