DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel: New grading console is compatible with iPad Pro

With the DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel, the manufacturer is offering a new grading console that is not only significantly cheaper than the previous two versions, but is also designed for video editing on a tablet thanks to Bluetooth, USB-C and a tablet stand. The iPad Pro and possible future Apple tablets can be used with the console, but it can also be used with PCs and notebooks.

The video editing and color grading program DaVinci Resolve from Blackmagic Design has been given a new grading panel, which has now been officially unveiled. It also works with the Apple iPad Pro or other tablets, although the software is currently only available for iPadOS and Android devices are still left out in the cold.

Accordingly, the manufacturer is talking about a special iPad Pro stand that can be used to place the tablet on top of the grading desk, turning it into a mobile video editing solution. Until now, users have had to rely on the touchscreen and Apple Pencil on the tablet, but the new console will make editing much more convenient.

It can be connected via USB-C or Bluetooth and of course also works with a PC or notebook. The features include three precise and programmable trackballs and 12 control knobs, which can be used for color grading videos. There is also a whole row of buttons on the left, right and top.

The Micro Color Panel is no bigger than a computer keyboard and has an integrated battery, but can also be used with a cable. The layout is based on the larger models, so there is no need to get used to it.

The DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel will also be available in different languages, so that no knowledge of English is required to read the buttons.

Price and availability

The DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel is scheduled for release in May 2024. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price is 555 euros, as stated on the official product website. This makes it significantly cheaper than the Mini or Advanced Panel, which cost €2,279 and €30,435 respectively.
