Dell UltraSharp U3224KB: Dell also competes with Apple with 6K display

Dell is now also attacking the Apple Pro Display XDR with the high-resolution Dell UltraSharp U3224KB monitor with 6K resolution. The monitor has a size of 31.5 inches, HDMI 2-1 and Thunderbolt 4.

Dell UltraSharp U3224KB: High-resolution monitor for creative people

For a long time, Apple was alone in the pack when it came to high-resolution monitors for creative professionals with its Pro Display XDR. That’s changing thanks to CES 2023, because after Samsung unveiled a 5K display with the ViewFinity S9 at the Las Vegas show, Dell is now stepping it up a notch.

The new Dell UltraSharp U3224KB comes with a 6K resolution, i.e. with 6,144 x 3,456 pixels and thus – thanks to a 31.5-inch screen diagonal – a pixel density of 223 ppi. The sRGB color space is also supposed to be completely covered, and the DCI-P3 color space is covered by 99 percent.

The U3224KB offers a DisplayHDR 600 certification and thus achieves a brightness of at least 600 nits at certain points. It also offers a contrast ratio of 2,000:1, which is twice as high as that of ordinary IPS displays.

Modern ports, ergonomic design

To impress creative professionals, the Dell UltraSharp U3224KB features a variety of modern ports. It connects via Mini-DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1, and also offers a Thunderbolt 4 port that can quickly charge connected notebooks with up to 140 watts.

Two USB-C and one USB-A ports as well as an RJ45 network port with 2.5 Gbit/s round off the equipment in combination with a KVM switch and picture modes like Picture-by-Picture and Picture-in-Picture.

In terms of ergonomics, the U3224KB is also very well positioned. The display can be tilted between -5 degrees and 21 degrees, rotated 30 degrees to the left and right and adjusted 160 mm in height. A pivot function is also offered to turn the display vertically and to display it upright.

Dell also integrates a 4K HDR webcam directly into the monitor, which records at up to 30 frames per second or in 1080p at 60 frames per second. A PrivacyShutter provides additional security, while a microphone including true suppression and two 14-watt speakers are already integrated into the monitor.

Price and Availability

When and at what price the Dell UltraSharp U3224KB will appear, the manufacturer has unfortunately not yet revealed. However, it is known that the display for creative people is supposed to be launched in the first half of 2023.
