gamescom 2024: Nintendo cancels again

From August 21 to 25, 2024, the gaming world will meet again in Cologne, as gamescom 2024 will once again be the games fair in North Rhine-Westphalia, where well-known manufacturers will present new products from the gaming and hardware sector. However, Nintendo will not be taking part this year, as it has once again canceled after 2022.

Nintendo not at gamescom 2024

We are still around four months away from gamescom 2024, but anyone hoping to see the Nintendo Switch 2 in Cologne will be disappointed. Nintendo has once again canceled its participation this year, just like two years ago.

The Japanese company revealed this to GamesWirtschaft magazine. However, the reason is not entirely clear, but “after careful consideration, the decision was made not to participate in Cologne,” as the report states. The games for Nintendo Switch can be tried out at other events in Germany, Big-N continued.

Last year, Nintendo could be found in Hall 9 after a one-year break and showed some game highlights there. This makes Nintendo the first major manufacturer to have a presence on site this year – albeit with negative results.

The release calendar of games for the Nintendo Switch is currently manageable anyway. After Nintendo recently gave the console a highlight with Princess Peach: Showtime! (our review), it seems that the focus internally is already on the new console. And this is supposed to launch at the beginning of 2025.
