Garmin’s Instinct 2 sports watch, which was already released in February 2022, gets an upgrade. The Garmin Instinct 2X Solar is a larger model that comes with, among other things, a flashlight and offers 40 days of battery life – thanks to the solar panel, even significantly longer runtimes are possible in sunshine.
The Garmin Instinct 2X Solar in detail
That the solar watches from Garmin offer long runtimes, we could already determine ourselves in the test of the noble Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar. Now the Instinct 2 also gets an upgrade. The new Garmin Instinct 2X Solar measures 50 mm x 50 mm x 14.5 mm and thus offers a diameter of 50 millimeters. At the same time, the sports watch, which is water-resistant to 10 ATM, weighs in at 67 grams.
One of the most important features is of course the charging option via solar energy, thanks to which the 2X achieves up to 40 days of runtime in smartwatch mode. In energy-saving watch mode, even infinite runtimes are theoretically possible – if the sun plays along.
The black-and-white display resolves at 176 x 176 pixels, measures 1.1 inches, and is easy to read even in direct sunlight. Garmin also integrates an LED flashlight, which can optionally shine in white and red and can be adjusted in four stages in terms of brightness.
Pay mobile, track sports
Mobile payments are made with the NFC-enabled Garmin Instinct 2X Solar, of course, again via Garmin Pay. The watch faces are customizable, are also offered, for example, notifications from the smartphone and various apps.
A heart rate and SpO2 sensor are also offered, as well as sleep tracking and various sports and health modes.
