Garmin Fenix 7, 7S, 7X and Epix 2: Extensive smartwatch leak

Garmin has only officially presented the new smartwatches Garmin Venu 2 Plus and Garmin Vivomove Sport at CES 2022. However, the rumor mill about further wearables continues to bubble. Now a new leak on the Garmin Fenix 7, 7S, 7X and Garmin Epix 2 has surfaced, revealing exciting details.

Garmin Fenix 7: Top models also with solar power

After the Garmin Fenix 7 smartwatch model series already presented itself recently in leaked images, WinFuture now provides further details on the equipment and features of the manufacturer’s new top models. Accordingly, we can expect the Fenix 7, Fenix 7S and Fenix 7X models, with the latter also to be offered with solar. The Garmin Epix 2 is another wearable.

The standard version of the Garmin Fenix 7 is once again primarily aimed at hikers and athletes. The model is supposed to last up to 18 days in smartwatch mode. The battery life is still supposed to be 57 hours with an always-on GPS connection. It is even up to 40 days in expedition GPS mode.

There will also be a variant that allows charging via solar energy. However, touch control is no longer offered since the solar panel is built directly into the display. There is talk of a runtime of up to 22 days, 73 hours (GPS only) and 74 days in expedition GPS mode.

Garmin is supposed to install a 1.3-inch transflexive MIP LCD touch display. It has a size of 1.3 inches and offers a resolution of 260 x 260 pixels. The case is made of stainless steel (PVD), the strap of silicone. According to the leak, the weight is 79g.

Garmin Fenix 7S and Garmin Fenix 7X

According to the rumors, the Garmin Fenix 7S, on the other hand, is somewhat smaller, but only weighs 63 grams. The manufacturer relies on a 1.2-inch display with 240 x 240 pixels and the same technology.

Accordingly, the battery runtimes are somewhat shorter. Up to 11 days (14 days with solar) in smartwatch mode, 37 hours (46 hours with solar) GPS-only, and 26 days (43 days with solar) with expedition GPS are mentioned.

The top model of the series goes by the name Garmin Fenix 7X. It has an enormous diameter of 51 mm and relies on a 1.4-inch display with 280 x 280 pixels. Accordingly, the 7X also offers the longest battery life. There is talk of up to 139 days with solar connection in expedition GPS mode, as well as up to 37 days in smartwatch mode.

All Garmin Fenix 7 smartwatch models offer WLAN, Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity and feature water resistance up to 10 ATM. In terms of sensors, there’s a distance meter, altimeter, ECG heart rate monitor, speed/RPM, speed sensors, heart rate zone measurements, pedometer, stress level, sleep analysis (including duration, levels, and quality), recovery time, and calories burned.

Garmin Epix 2: New edition with OLED panel

The Garmin Epix 2 smartwatch, on the other hand, is a revised new edition of the classic and combines modern technology with a classic look. Here, you combine the features of the new Garmin Venu 2 Plus with the design and durability of the new Fenix models.

Visually, the Epix 2 is reminiscent of the manufacturer’s outdoor models. However, smart features such as Garmin Pay, Spotify and various other sports apps as well as maps and tracking for golf are offered in return.

Garmin Epix 2 Smartwatch

According to the leak, the Garmin Epix 2 is equipped with a 1.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen that brings it to a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels. The 47-millimeter, 76-gram smartwatch has a battery life of up to 16 days (smartwatch mode), or up to 42 hours with GPS activated.

Prices and availability

Since this is only a leak so far, it is not known when the Garmin Fenix 7 smartwatch models, nor the Garmin Epix 2 will be released. In terms of pricing, the leak speaks of more than 700 Euros for the Fenix 7, and around 1,000 Euros for the Epix 2, respectively.
