Gigabyte MO34WQC and MO34WQC2: New OLED monitors for gamers

Gigabyte has introduced two new ultra-wide gaming monitors aimed at gamers. The Gigabyte MO34WQC and Gigabyte MO34WQC2 models are similar in many areas, but differ in terms of refresh rate and Clear Motion Ration (ClearMR).

Both new Gigabyte monitors have a screen diagonal of 34 inches and a WQHD resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels. They have an OLED panel that is protected against reflections and is 250 cd/m² bright for SDR content and up to 1,000 cd/m² bright for HDR content. The contrast ratio is 1.5 million:1, while the typical OLED response time is an outstanding 0.03 ms.

However, there are differences between the Gigabyte MO34WQC and MO34WQC2 in terms of refresh rate. While the WQC is limited to 175 Hz, the WQC2 reaches up to 240 Hz. The VESA ClearMR rating also differs: the MO34WQC achieves ClearMR 10,000, the MO34WQC2 ClearMR 13,000.

ClearMR is the benchmark for motion blur in displays and was increased from the previous maximum value of 9,000 to up to 13,000 in 2022. The number stands for the ratio of clear pixels to blurred pixels as a percentage. The higher the number, the less blur there should be.

Good selection of connections

The Gigabyte MO34WQC and MO34WQC2 also have the same connections. They have two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, one USB-C port with DP Alt mode and PowerDelivery with 18 watts, two USB 3.2 Down ports, one USB 3.2 Up port and two 3.5 mm jack ports.

Two 3-watt speakers and a KVM switch for using peripherals on two end devices are installed. The monitors can be tilted between -5° and 20°, rotated by /- 30° and adjusted in height by 130 mm. A 100×100 VESA hole is also available.

Prices and availability

The manufacturer has not yet provided any information on the availability and prices of the Gigabyte MO34WQC and MO34WQC2. A market launch is likely to take place shortly. Further details can be found on the official product websites of the MO34WQC and MO34WQC2.
