Google has unveiled its latest smartphones, the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and (larger but technically identical) Pixel 9 Pro XL, which boast impressive hardware and advanced AI functions. The new devices set new standards in many respects, particularly with their camera technology and the ultra-high brightness level of the display. Google also offers comprehensive software support with these devices, which is guaranteed for several years.

Impressive displays and design variety
The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro offer one of the highest brightness levels on the smartphone market with a display that reaches up to 2,700 nits (Pixel 9) and up to 3,000 nits (Pixel 9 Pro / XL). This enormous brightness ensures that the screen is exceptionally easy to read even in bright sunshine and significantly improves the user experience outdoors.
The screens are available in 6.3-inch (Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro) and 6.8-inch (Pixel 9 Pro XL) sizes, giving users the choice between a more compact and a larger format. All displays offer a customizable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, with only the Pro models with LTPO technology going down to 1 Hz.
The design remains true to the elegant and minimalist lines of the previous models, but there are straight edges and a new camera island inspired by the Google search bar.
Camera technology on a new level
One of the most outstanding features of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro is the camera. Google has further improved the camera technology and equipped it with new sensors that deliver even higher image quality. Particularly noteworthy is the improved AI integration, which enables automatic optimization for different scenarios. Whether in poor lighting conditions or during fast movements – the Pixel 9’s camera delivers razor-sharp images.
The Pixel 9 combines a 50 MP main camera with a 48 MP ultra wide-angle lens, which is not only significantly brighter, but also has a much higher resolution than its predecessor.
The Pixel 9 Pro (XL) also offers an improved 48 MP telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom that captures distant objects in great detail. The camera software also allows photos to be edited in real time so that unwanted objects can be removed from images or colors can be adjusted automatically. The Pro now even records videos in 8K.
In addition to the Magic Editor, there is now a new “Add Me” function that allows you to add a person to group photos at a later date.
Future-proof software and performance
Another advantage of the new Pixel smartphones is the long-term software support. Google promises seven years of security and function updates, which gives the devices an exceptionally long service life and up-to-dateness. This is particularly interesting for users who value a sustainable investment and want to use their devices for longer without having to do without new functions.
The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are powered by a powerful Tensor G4 processor, which has been specially optimized for the use of AI applications. It is said to be able to process up to 45 tokens per second, making it the most powerful AI chip currently available.
This is reflected not only in the improved camera, but also in the general performance of the devices. The AI helps to make everyday tasks easier, be it through smart assistant functions or through optimized battery usage that efficiently regulates energy consumption. The Pixel 9 comes with 12 GB of RAM, while the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL have 16 GB.

With the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro (XL), Google has launched smartphones on the market that are characterized by their outstanding displays, powerful cameras and advanced AI functions. The Pixel 9 starts immediately at 899 euros, while the Pixel 9 Pro is available from 1,099 euros. The 9 Pro XL is available from €1,199.
Up to 800 euros back for the old smartphone at launch. Google is also offering a storage upgrade and 1 year of Gemini Advanced and 2 TB of cloud storage for free until September 5.
