Google Pixel Watch: Chic smartwatch officially presented

The company finally unveiled its first smartwatch at the Google I/O developer conference after the design had already been leaked in the past few days. The Google Pixel Watch will launch in the fall and relies on a simple and classy design.

Google Pixel Watch: all info and details

The company did not reveal all the details of the Google Pixel Watch at the Google I/O event, but it did present the design and some of the features. The tech giant relies on a round display with curved glass and a single button in the form of a crown on the right side.

The wristband can be exchanged, but it has a special connector so that only special Google Pixel Watch wristbands can be used. The smartwatch is also available with an integrated LTE modem.

The operating system is an improved version of Wear OS 3, which will offer Google-exclusive features. These include, for example, a revamped user interface and smart notifications.

Special Wear OS 3

Wear OS 3 will offer new apps like the revamped Google Wallet and Google Home in addition to the usual Google apps like Maps for navigation or Google Assistant as a voice assistant. Thus, the smart home can be controlled directly via the watch, at least in the ecosystem of the search engine provider.

The Google Pixel Watch also integrates functions from FitBit that can be synchronized directly with a corresponding account. These include various training and fitness modes, heart rate measurement and precise sleep tracking including analysis.

As expected, the Pixel Watch is only compatible with Android smartphones and that from version 8.0 of the mobile operating system. iPhones thus go empty-handed.
