Hyundai Ioniq 5: Chic electric SUV comes from 30,600 euros

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 crossover SUV is attacking Tesla with its elegant design, high-quality technology and low price. On the new car comparison portal Carwow, the Korean electric car is already listed from 30,600 euros.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 at a bargain price

Now that’s some fighting talk. Carwow lists the coveted Hyundai Ioniq 5 e-crossover SUV partly well below list price. It starts, depending on features, with a price of 30,566 euros for the variant with 58 kWh and 125 kW output. For the top model of the Ioniq 5 with 72.6 kWh, 225 kW and all-wheel drive, 37,146 euros are called for – and that directly from the authorized dealer. Actually, the MSRP for this variant is 48,900 euros.

Buyers get a lot for the money. This starts with the futuristic design of the crossover SUV, which focuses on striking lines. Inside, high-tech instruments, sustainable materials and a generous space concept ensure a feel-good atmosphere.

The full-LED headlights or full-LED projection headlights in 256-pixel design are particularly eye-catching. At the rear of the new E-CUV, the innovative LED light design forms a characteristic formation of rectangles.

The optionally available solar roof captures sunlight with its panels and charges both the 12V starter battery and the high-voltage battery of the IONIQ 5, providing additional range. The battery charge level as well as the energy flow of the solar roof are shown in real time on the display.

Smart features of the E-CUV

The 12.25-inch instrument display and 12.25-inch touchscreen seamlessly merge into a digital info and control center for driving data, safety and infotainment. Moving the center console toward the rear seats provides more flexibility and, in tight parking spaces, allows convenient entry via the passenger side, for example.

The rear seats can be manually reclined and moved forward or backward by up to 135 mm by hand or electrically. Passengers in the second row can also enjoy the features in the center console: cup holders and USB ports. In addition, the two rear outer seats are optionally equipped with heated seats. The front seats with relax function provide the driver and front passenger with an optimal resting position – thanks to a wide range of adjustment options and an integrated calf support.

The all-electric CUV Hyundai Ioniq 5 elegantly combines impressive engine performance with an exceptional range of advanced technology and with a range of up to 481 km.

What testers say about the Hyundai Ioniq 5

Initial tests already attest to the Hyundai Ioniq 5’s outstanding features. In tests conducted by Auto Bild and Auto Motor und Sport, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric-powered crossover SUV put its VW ID.4 GTX rival in its place.

The Hyundai also showed its strengths in the comparison to the premium models Audi Q4 e-tron and BMW iX3. The Korean earned particular praise for its ultra-fast 800-volt charging technology, which is unrivaled in this price range. This allows the battery of the Ioniq 5 to be charged to 80 percent in 18 minutes.

The innovative space concept and the outstanding infotainment system also received praise. Points were deducted for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 with a 72.6 kWh battery in terms of range: instead of the 481 kilometers promised by the manufacturer, the testers nevertheless only achieved an average of 361 km.

Price of the Hyundai Ioniq 5

In Germany, the E-CUV Ioniq 5 is available from a list price of 41,900 euros. After deducting the e-car premiums, the price is 32,300 euros. In addition, Hyundai provides an eight-year warranty on the vehicle parts with no mileage limit, as well as an eight-year warranty on the high-voltage battery up to 160,000 kilometers.
