Hyundai Kona 2023: New design and more space

Hyundai shows the revised design of its E-SUV for the first time. The new Hyundai Kona 2023 focuses on a futuristic look and comes up with increased interior space.

Hyundai Kona 2023 design with a fresh look

Hyundai modernizes an E-SUV Kona and equips it with a new futuristic design. The unmistakable feature of the new Hyundai Kona 2023 is the futuristic LED light strip at the front and rear, which extends across the full width of the vehicle. In general, the automaker deviates more from the pixel look of the IONIQ models. Only the EV variant features this look.

The new Kona will be offered as a hybrid as well as a pure combustion engine and a pure electric SUV, but the manufacturer is largely holding back on technical data.

The E variant was used as the basis for the design, which was made much more futuristic. This was then transferred to the other models. The headlights were moved to the outer corners under the new light bar.

The Kona is also characterized by dynamic, angular folding of the side sections with large wheel arches that enclose the front and rear lights. Overall, the SUV looks a bit beefier and also larger.

More space inside

In fact, interior space increases in the 2023 Hyundai Kona. “The generous interior, oriented to the space concept of our electric vehicles, will suit different lifestyles thanks to its flexibility,” said the manufacturer. The vehicle dimensions are said to have been gently increased, while the interior now incorporates innovative high-tech comfort features.

What exactly that means and how much more space is available inside from now on, however, was left open.

The dashboard and door panels are now upholstered in soft materials, which generally makes for a more refined look. In the first picture, it also looks as if the digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel is directly connected to the infotainment system as a large display. However, it is supposed to be two 12.3-inch displays that merge under a common glass.

The center console remains uncluttered. The lever for the automatic transmission is to be installed on the steering wheel. Fans of a more aggressive look can also look forward to a sporty N Line variant of the Hyundai Kona 2023 – including twin tailpipes and a roof spoiler. However, this is not yet shown in pictures.

And that’s all the details. The new variants are scheduled for release in 2023 and will probably be officially unveiled at the beginning of the year. It will also be exciting to see how much less range the new Kona manages in winter. According to a recent survey, the current model loses around 19 percent of its range in icy temperatures and thus ranks in the middle of the electric cars tested.
