The future of iPhones seems to be very exciting. At least if we are to believe the usually very well-informed Mark Gurman, who has sprinkled some details in his Power On newsletter at Bloomberg.
The iPhone 16 series could bring larger displays and new AI features in 2024. The new generation is set to be unveiled on September 10. Apple is apparently planning to introduce the largest screen diagonal in iPhone history with a 6.9-inch display. A new camera button (capture button) could also be integrated to make taking photos easier.
Another focus is on the improved integration of artificial intelligence, which is to be made possible by the new A18 chip. This could lead to a significant increase in performance and user experience, particularly when taking photos and videos and operating the device in general.
There could also be interesting changes in terms of design: In addition to new color options, the edges of the housing are to be slightly modified to offer a better feel. These new features are aimed at continuing to position the iPhone as a leading smartphone that sets standards in terms of both technology and design.
iPhone SE4 to herald the year 2025
According to Gurman, the new iPhone SE4 will follow in early 2025. The new model will feature a full-screen OLED display from the iPhone 14 and a notch. However, according to Gurman, the Dynamic Island will not be found in the cheaper model.
The plan is also to keep the price below the 500-dollar mark, which could make the successor to the SE a real bestseller.
iPhone 17 series: iPhone Air for the first time
In fall 2025, the iPhone 17 series will be launched, which, according to Gurman, will do without the iPhone 17 Plus. This will be replaced by the iPhone Air or iPhone 17 Air, which will be a particularly thin model. The analyst reports a thickness of only around five millimetres. However, some losses in terms of features will probably have to be accepted.
“The sales argument could be something like this: If you want something fancier than a standard iPhone but don’t need the performance, screen size or cameras of a Pro model, you can have a device that looks much cooler while still offering the specs of a regular iPhone,” Gurman writes.
