The compact Lenovo ThinkPad L13 G3 and L13 Yoga G notebooks get an update. New features include an improved display in 16:10 format, as well as up to 32 GB of working memory.
Lenovo ThinkPad L13 G3 & L13 Yoga G with improvements
Compared to the predecessor G2, a lot has changed in the 2022 models of Lenovo’s compact and comparatively cheap notebooks. The Lenovo ThinkPad L13 G3 and the L13 Yoga G are the first models in the manufacturer’s L-series to get a 16:10 display with a longer aspect ratio.
The resolution is 1,920 x 1,200 pixels in WUXGA format, and the maximum brightness is 500 nits. The L13 G is also optionally available with a touchscreen. With dimensions of 305 x 218 x 17.3 mm and a weight of 1.26 kg (L13 Gen 3) and 1.32 kg (L13 Yoga Gen 3), both notebooks are compact and light.
On the other hand, the maximum working memory has been doubled. While the G2 series came with a maximum of 16 GB RAM, the G3 models now have up to 32 GB. However, the manufacturer does not mention details about speed and connectivity.
The other features
The Lenovo ThinkPad L13 G3 and L13 Yoga G are offered with Intel Core i7 processors of the 12th generation (Alder Lake) or AMD Ryzen PRO 5000 CPUs, whereby only the Intel models offer Thunderbolt 4. AMD models have to make do with 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2.
Both variants also have USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, a 3.5 mm jack and a SIM slot. In terms of connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, 4G LTE and Bluetooth 5.2 are offered. The battery of 46 Wh is manageable due to the compact design, but there are no details about the runtime.
The webcam has also been updated and is now available in 1080p resolution (Full HD). The Yoga model can also be equipped with a 5-megapixel camera on the back. Additionally, all models have a fingerprint sensor in the power button, a privacy shutter for the webcam and Kensington Lock.
Prices and Availability
The Lenovo ThinkPad L13 G3 and Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 3 notebooks are expected to be available in stores in May 2022. Nas normal L13 G3 starts from $800 in the Intel variant, or from $859.99 with an AMD CPU. The Yoga is available starting at $1,040 (Intel), or $979 with an AMD chip.
