Lenovo ThinkVision P27u-20: New UHD monitor comes with Thunderbolt 4

Lenovo has introduced the ThinkVision P27u-20 monitor, a new model that is aimed at professional users and graphic designers. It uses a 4K UHD display with high pixel density and has an integrated docking station including Thunderbolt 4.

High-color display

Lenovo relies on an anti-reflective IPS panel with a size of 27 inches for the ThinkVision P27u-20 professional monitor. It resolves in 4K UHD (3,840 × 2,160 pixels) and thus achieves a very high pixel density of 163 ppi. Fortunately, the display’s edges are extremely slim.

Graphic designers and video professionals will also be happy about a low color gap of Delta E < 1 and offers an extended color spectrum that is supposed to cover knspp 99 percent of Adobe RGB and DCI-P3. The 10 bit color depth on the other hand is only simulated (8 bit + FRC are offered). The brightness of 400 cd/m² (maximum 450 cd/m²) is above average for IPS panels – that is enough for an HDR-400 certification. The refresh rate of 60 Hz and the contrast ratio of 1000:1 round off the coherent overall picture.

The built-in docking station at the bottom of the monitor is particularly exciting. The Thunderbolt 4 interface is still extremely rare in the monitor segment and is available as both input and output. In addition, there are two HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.2, one Gigabit Ethernet port, one audio output and various USB 3.2 Type-A and Type-B ports.

With the help of the Thunderbolt 4 port, for example, a notebook can be charged with up to 100 watts, while the normal USB-C port allows maximum charging with 27 watts (for smartphones, for example). A KVM switch, two speakers and a height-adjustable, rotatable and swiveling stand including pivot function round off the Lenovo ThinkVision P27u-20 skillfully.

Price and Availability

The Lenovo ThinkVision P27u-20 professional UHD monitor is expected to make its way to retail stores in January 2022. The manufacturer’s RRP is 958 euros.
