Lenovo Yoga Pro 14S Carbon: 14-incher with OLED and Ryzen 5000

Lenovo seems to have a lot up its sleeve. The hardware experts from the Far East have presented a really exciting notebook with the Yoga Pro 14S Carbon 2022, whose specs sound promising. Besides a chic OLED touchscreen, it is also supposed to be equipped with a Ryzen 5000. Lenovo wants to fit all of this into a device that weighs just 1 kg. We take a closer look at the PC manufacturer’s plans.

Promising specs

The Christmas business is getting closer and closer and accordingly, a few exciting hardware presentations can be observed at the moment. Lenovo is also in on the action. A new model of the Yoga family is supposed to convince with decent hardware power at an extremely low weight. It is the Yoga Pro 14S Carbon 2022, which is supposed to be equipped with a powerful Ryzen 7 5800U from AMD. The eight-core CPU is supported by a 16 GB LPDDR4x-4,266 working memory. A 512 GB SSD is supposed to provide enough storage space. The impressive hardware power is joined by a nice-looking OLED display that has a resolution of 2.8K (2,880 x 1,800 pixels) and wants to score with very good contrast and color values. It is supposed to offer 100% coverage in the DCI-P3 color space and achieve maximum brightness values of up to 400 nits. Thanks to 90 Hz, moving images are supposed to flicker smoothly over the display.

The weight of the device presented in China is no coincidence. You can already tell from the name how Lenovo managed to develop such a light case. After all, the casing is primarily made of feather-light carbon – a material that used to be exclusively used in space travel. Of course, we also know devices that weigh less than 1 kg. But in view of the features and the size of 14 inches, it is quite remarkable how light Lenovo has designed and implemented the notebook. Since it is a mobile device, the battery naturally plays a big role. Lenovo specifies the battery size with 61 watt hours. The battery can be charged with a maximum power of 65 watts via one of the three USB-C ports on the device. Unfortunately, none of the ports offer Thunderbolt support – a typical AMD problem.

Prices and availability

Lenovo is selling the slim and sleek Yoga Pro 14S Carbon 2022 on the Chinese market now. The manufacturer charges an MSRP of the equivalent of about 985 Euros for it. However, it is not yet known if and when the chic notebook will be launched in this country.
