Logitech Zone Learn launches as headset designed to improve concentration

With the Logitech Zone Learn, the manufacturer has introduced a new headset that was specially designed for students and is to be used in schools. It is supposed to improve concentration and thus ensure more effective learning. How exactly this works, however, is not entirely clear.

Logitech Zone Learn unveiled

Logitech has worked with educators and students to develop the wired Logitech Zone Learn headset, which is intended for use in the education sector – particularly in schools. Designed specifically for smaller heads of younger students, it is said to offer excellent comfort and be robust.

Ear pads and cables are interchangeable, while the adjustable fit is said to be “ideal for long-lasting periods of concentration”and can thus actively promote the learning process. Promises one in any case. What influence there has the fit concretely, however, is not quite clear.

“In the development of Zone Learn, we have placed our focus on auditory educational applications, so that students of all levels can stay focused and learn undisturbed,” reveals Michele Hermann, General Manager and Head of Education Solutions at Logitech.

In partnership with Education Week, Logitech conducted a survey of more than 1,000 educators. Seventy-four percent of the respondents said that students’ physical well-being does have an impact on their learning behavior when using educational technology.

Again, the manufacturer only mentions the customizable shape of the Logitech Zone Learn, where adjustable sliders are said to increase fit and thus comfort.

Sound trimmed for speech

Unlike most headsets, the Logitech Zone Learn is designed for clear speech intelligibility rather than music in terms of sound. “Moreover, they [the drivers] are optimized for digital learning scenarios ranging from virtual classes to ESL and ELL applications, where communication naturally plays a central role,” Logitech adds.

The headset is offered either as an over-ear model, which isolates ambient noise better, or as an on-ear device. Built-in is of course also a boom microphone, which can be swiveled by 120 degrees.

There are also various ports, ranging from 3.5 mm jack to USB-A and USB-C. Coupled with the replaceable ear pads and cables, the headsets are self-repairing and can be used for longer.

The Zone Learn itself is also highly sustainable and is 100 percent PVC, VOC and paint free. 22 percent of the plastic parts are made from recycled PCR plastic.

Price and Availability

The Logitech Zone Learn is expected to make its way to retail stores before the end of spring 2023 and will be available at all education retailers. The suggested retail price is €49.99. More details are available on Logitech’s official product website.
