Microsoft wants to bring Xbox games to PS5 and Nintendo Switch

What has long been speculated in the industry is now a certainty. Microsoft apparently wants to bring four games not only to Xbox and PC. The competitor consoles from Sony and Nintendo are also to serve as platforms.

Microsoft lifts Xbox exclusivity

When “Sea of Thieves” was officially announced, no one would have thought that it could also be released on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. But that is exactly what is set to happen with this and three other Xbox titles. In addition to the pirate adventure, Microsoft has now confirmed that the games “Pentiment”, “Grounded” and “Hifi-Rush” will also be released on the Sony and Nintendo game consoles respectively. The reason for the seemingly harmonious relationship between the entertainment industry rivals is easy to find.

Sea of Thieves will also be released on Sony and Nintendo consoles

The past few years have been anything but favorable for Microsoft. The takeovers of well-known developer studios such as Zenimax and Activision Blizzard were extremely expensive. Microsoft spent the impressive sum of 70 billion US dollars on the latter. These expenses must now be compensated for. For Xbox owners and Gamepass subscribers, however, the purchase has already paid off. AAA titles such as “Diablo 4” and “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” will soon be added to the already extensive games library that Xbox and PC users can access.

Cautious sigh of relief for Bethesda fans at Sony

Originally, it was assumed that Microsoft might pursue a completely different strategy. It seemed as if the tech company was hoping that fans of the acquired developer studios would buy an Xbox without further ado in order to be able to play games from popular series such as “The Elder Scrolls” or “Call of Duty”. However, the Xbox division now seems to be taking a different approach. After all, the recent announcement marked a significant launch for Xbox games on PlayStation and Nintendo systems.

However, we will have to keep our fingers crossed that this historic step will also affect such high-caliber games. After all, the four games that are now apparently making the start are not really AAA titles. If this is the case, then it will be a very sad development. After all, Microsoft is softening the once so rigidly held exclusivity boundary of Xbox Games. The future will show whether Microsoft’s games division now wants to act more as a publisher than a manufacturer of games consoles.
