Overcrowded streets and expensive and scarce parking spaces in city centers are causing more and more people to switch from cars to e-bikes. However, these are often quite heavy, which in turn means a loss of comfort. Thanks to its titanium frame weighing just 12 kg, the Möve Avian wants to prove that there is another way. But while the weight may be low, the price of the pedelec produced in Thuringia is unfortunately quite high.
Möve Avian is a lightweight
The magic formula of the Avian from Möve Mobility is the choice of materials and their processing. The manufacturer from Thuringia relies on a titanium frame whose individual parts are not welded but glued together. As a result, the entire frame is said to weigh just 1,500 grams. This is quite impressive, but also prompts the company to save weight on the rest.
This primarily has an impact on the technical equipment. As the battery accounts for a large proportion of the weight of an e-bike, it is natural to make savings here too. A 242 watt-hour battery is used, which is not only lightweight thanks to its compact dimensions. It is also concealed in the frame of the Möve Avian.
A premium-class hub motor from the manufacturer Mahle provides the propulsion. This is also quite compact and is located in the rear wheel of the e-bike. In combination with the battery and motor, a maximum of 60 kilometers should be possible with a full charge. Of course, this is not a peak value, but it is simply the price you have to pay if you want to use such a lightweight bike.
The manufacturer wants to launch its pedelec in two different versions. The Pure-Line is the basis for purists. In this configuration, the e-bike only comes with a rudimentary lighting system. On top of this, gadgets such as pannier racks and mudguards have been omitted to save weight.

The result is an e-bike that weighs 11.8 kg. At 13.5 kg, the Tour-Line is slightly heavier, but also significantly better equipped. In addition to mudguards and a practical luggage rack, you also get hydraulic disc brakes, which promises a high level of braking safety.
Price and availability
In view of the premium frame, low weight and the Made in Germany label, the Möve Avian is of course no bargain. The manufacturer is asking a proud price of 7,500 euros. You can reserve the stylish e-bike now on the manufacturer’s official website. However, you will have to be patient for the maiden voyage. Deliveries are not scheduled to follow until 2025.
