Amazon has unveiled a new version of the Echo Spot for 2024. The smart speaker comes with a smaller display and a better speaker. For the launch, the speaker is available with a substantial launch discount.

Design and display
The new Echo Spot has a compact design with a 2.8-inch rectangular touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Compared to the first generation, which had a round screen, the display is smaller.
However, this has allowed Amazon to integrate a much larger, front-facing speaker with a diameter of 44.5 mm, which ensures better sound. Alexa can be used to play music, podcasts and audio books from preferred providers such as Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and more.
Functions and features
The Echo Spot (2024) is mainly marketed as a smart alarm clock. In addition to the time and upcoming alarms, the touchscreen also displays information on the weather forecast and calendar entries. Smart home devices can also be controlled via the display. Voice control is via Amazon Alexa. The microphones can be muted using a button on the top to protect privacy.
The speaker of the new Echo Spot is designed to provide improved sound quality. Music can also be streamed via Bluetooth. Inside is a MediaTek MT8519 ARM chip, supported by 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory. The Echo Spot supports Wi-Fi 5 and can be operated in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
Price and availability
The new Amazon Echo Spot (2024) is available at a recommended retail price of 94.99 euros. However, it is being offered to Prime members on Prime Day with a discount of 42 percent for just 54.99 euros. The smart speaker is available in black, white and blue.
