After the scandal about the working conditions at the developer giant Activision Blizzard and the acquisition by Microsoft, there is more news from the developer’s house. Some former employees have founded a new studio called New Tales, and it’s under the Ubisoft umbrella, of all things.
New Tales: new developer studio from former Activision Blizzard employees
Ned Tales, the name of the new studio, was founded by some industry veterans who were most recently employed by Activision Blizzard. Before that, however, the founders also worked for Ubisoft, Vivendi, LucasArts and other developers.
Under the umbrella of Ubisoft, they now founded a new studio based in Paris and want to dedicate themselves to the development of their own titles as well as the publishing of games from other developers.
The company’s own studios will create fresh IPs, while offering other developers a “state-of-the-art publishing service with a fresh approach and a global reach.”
Familiar names
The new studio will be led by Cédric Maréchal, who previously held the post of International Senior Vice President at Activision Blizzard. He will be assisted by Benoit Dufour, formerly of Vivendi.
Other notable staff members include Delphie Le Corre (most recently senior director EMEA at Blizzard), Emmanuel Obert (formerly EMEA director at Blizzard), Kim Gresko (formerly at LucasArts and Blue Silver Studios), Ray Gresko (also Blizzard and Blue Silver Studios) and Julia Humphreys (formerly at Blizzard for Overwatch and Seven Studios).
In the future, they want to act as a “fair partner” for external developers and are already working on a new IP of their own, as can be seen from the homepage of the studio. However, it should still take quite a while until the release.
