Nothing Phone 2a Design: Elegant mid-range smartphone revealed

In the style of the Google Pixel smartphones, Nothing is also expanding its models with a more affordable a-series. The popular Nothing Phone 2 will be followed by the Nothing Phone 2a in just a few days. This can now be seen in its final Nothing Phone 2a design, shortly before its release.

Nothing Phone 2a design unveiled

“Combining human warmth with state-of-the-art technology” is what tech company Nothing wants to achieve with the upcoming Nothing Phone 2a mid-range smartphone, which is set to be unveiled on March 5, 2024.

As with the “big” Nothing Phone 2 last year, the manufacturer is accompanying the release with additional information, which will be published bit by bit.

The Nothing Phone 2a design has now been unveiled, which retains the iconic look and glyph interface of the devices, but can still add fresh accents. Basically, the Nothing Phone 2a is very reminiscent of the Phone 2, but this time the manufacturer has placed the dual cameras on the back next to each other in the middle, making the lenses look like a pair of eyes.

The back remains transparent, with the new mid-range device coming in a white design. It is still unclear whether there will also be a black version. Initial leaks around a week ago also hinted at a black color scheme, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.

The LED light strips known as glyphs have been significantly reduced. There are only three short strips around the cameras, whereas the Phone 2 has eleven LED segments that can be controlled individually.

As a matching accent, the buttons such as the on/off switch and volume rocker on the sides are set off in black. The frame once again features flattened edges.

Nothing Phone 2a: Specifications and price still open

While the design of the Nothing Phone 2a should no longer hold any surprises, the specifications and price are still unknown. The only thing the manufacturer has already revealed is the built-in chip.

The Mediatek Dimensity 7200 Pro is a mid-range SoC under the hood, but further details are still purely speculative. According to various leaks, there is talk of 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of system memory. Another variant with 12 GB and 256 GB is also rumored to be available.

Leaks also mention a 6.7-inch 120 Hz OLED display and a charging speed of 45 watts via USB-C. In terms of cameras, the Nothing Phone 2a is rumored to combine a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultra wide-angle camera, while a selfie camera with a resolution of 32 megapixels will be used at the front.
