Nothing Phone 2a: All info on features, price and release

As expected, Carl Pei’s company Nothing has just officially unveiled the new Nothing Phone 2a mid-range smartphone. After the design was presented to the public a few days ago, all the details have now been finalized. Here is an overview of all the information about the price cracker.

Nothing Phone 2a: The features

With the new Nothing Phone 2a, the tech company is once again focusing on a convincing price-performance ratio. Under the hood of the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro, a new SoC that has been specially optimized for the device and is said to be superior to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 in terms of performance.

Its octa-core CPU was manufactured using the 4 nm process and is said to be correspondingly energy-efficient, which ensures long battery life. Nothing provides 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of system memory, depending on the configuration. At the same time, the smartphone can borrow additional system memory to achieve up to 20 GB of RAM for a short time thanks to RAM Boost and increase performance.

The Nothing Phone 2a features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with full HD resolution, which is up to 1,300 nits bright and offers an adaptive refresh rate of 120 hertz. It covers 91.65% of the casing (screen-to-body ratio) and is HDR10 certified.

The smartphone’s battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh and can be charged via USB-C with up to 45 watts. This should be enough to achieve a day’s battery life in just 20 minutes. Fully charged, the 2a should even last for 2 days at a time.

The features are rounded off by dual 5G support, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6, NFC and stereo speakers. The fingerprint sensor is located in the display and facial unlocking is also offered. Phone 2a comes with Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14. The manufacturer also promises four years of security patches and three major Android updates.

The design of the Nothing Phone 2a

The design of the Nothing Phone 2a was already known. The mid-range smartphone is available in three colors: Black, gray and white. The angular design is again based on a glyph interface on the back, which is limited to 3 LEDs around the centrally positioned camera elements.

On the back, we have the LEDs, called glyphs, that react to the camera, currently playing music, ringtones or notifications, for example. Overall, the smartphone measures 161.74 mm x 76.32 mm x 8.55 mm and weighs 190 grams. It also offers IP54 certification.

Two 50 MP cameras

On the back, the Nothing Phone 2a has two cameras positioned next to each other that look like eyes. Both have a resolution of 50 megapixels, with the main camera featuring optical image stabilization (OIS) and an aperture of f/1.88.

The second camera is an ultra-wide-angle lens with a field of view of 114 degrees and an aperture of f/2.2. The 2a records videos on the rear in a maximum of 4K at 30 fps. At the front is a 32 MP selfie camera (f/2.2), which, like the ultra-wide-angle camera, was taken directly from the Phone 2. It offers various photo modes such as Ultra XDR, a night and action mode, as well as a special portrait optimizer.

Price and availability

The features are absolutely impressive, but the Nothing Phone 2a also starts at an extremely attractive price. It starts at a price of 329.00 euros for the version with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB flash memory. The top model with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB ROM is priced at 379.00 euros. Pre-orders are now available directly from the manufacturer and will soon be available on Amazon.
