OnePlus Buds V: in-ears with powerful features at an affordable price

OnePlus has unveiled new in-ear headphones in China. The OnePlus Buds V combine powerful features, including 12.4 mm titanium drivers and Bluetooth 5.3, with an affordable price.

The OnePlus Buds V in detail

Following on from the affordable OnePlus Nord Buds 2 and the high-quality Buds Pro 2, the manufacturer is now launching another model of in-ear headphones. This goes by the name of OnePlus Buds V and is priced even lower.

Although the Buds V lack active noise suppression, the rest of the features are absolutely impressive. 12.4 mm drivers with a titanium coating promise a convincing sound that can be personalized in the companion app using an equalizer.

Although only AAC and SBC are used as audio codecs, the earbuds can even produce Dolby Atmos sound in combination with a suitable OnePlus smartphone. The earbuds themselves weigh just 4.3 grams and are said to achieve a battery life of up to 8 hours, which increases to 38 hours when combined with the charging case.

In addition, the OnePlus Buds V use the modern Bluetooth 5.3 standard with low latency and are protected against dust and water in accordance with IP55. They are operated via the touch-sensitive outer sides, and two microphones with AI-supported noise suppression are designed to deliver convincing sound.

However, in the absence of my language skills, I can’t glean much more from OnePlus’ Chinese website. At least it shows that the Buds V are available in three colors (Shadow Black, Silver Sand White and Interstellar Blue).

Price and availability

The OnePlus Buds V are available immediately in China and start there with a discount for 149 yuan, which corresponds to around 19 euros. The RRP is 179 yuan (approx. 23 euros). It is not yet clear when the Buds V will be available in Europe.
