Philips Momentum 329M1RV and 279M1RV: new gaming monitors to come

With the Momentum 329M1RV and 279M1RV gaming monitors, Philips targets gamers who have a next-gen console like PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X at home. Thanks to HDMI 2.1, both displays offer 4K resolution including 120 Hz on the new consoles, but at 32 and 27 inches, respectively, they are significantly smaller than the 55-inch Philips Momentum 559M1RYV.

Philips Momentum monitors now also available in 32 and 27 inches

With the Momentum range, Philips is primarily targeting owners of an Xbox Series X/S, as 4K resolution including a frame rate of 120 Hz can be achieved on the current console thanks to the HDMI 2.1 standard. HDR support and a variable refresh rate (VRR) are also part of the package.

The Philips Momentum 329M1RV is certified according to VESA DisplayHDR 400 to achieve a particularly high brightness with rich contrasts and colors. AMD FreeSync Premium is also offered here. The Philips Momentum 279M1RV even achieves VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, but without AMD FreeSync Premium.

In order to appeal to PC and console gamers alike, Philips relies on an IPS Nano panel in the 279M1RV, which convinces with a high color accuracy and covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color space. The monitor also has a USB-C port and is NVIDIA G-Sync compatible.

Philips Ambiglow technology adds immersion to both monitors, with LEDs on the back of the displays reflecting what’s happening on the screen. The built-in DTS speakers also enable virtual surround sound, which is supposed to impress with rich bass, dialogue enhancement and a clear, particularly high maximum volume.

Prices and availability

The new Philips Momentum gaming monitors will launch in November 2021. The 329M1RV carries an MSRP of $1099.00, while the 279M1RV will be offered for $999.00.
