PICO G3: VR headset for business presented

PICO has made public details about its upcoming VR glasses. During the Laval Virtual conference, the company announced that the PICO G3 will be an all-in-one VR headset, so to speak. This is said to score with more power, a more dynamic display with a higher refresh rate, and a stronger battery capacity. Business users, on the other hand, should be happy about the implementation of the new PICO OS.

PICO G3 wants to conquer business sector

According to its own information, PICO has designed its new PICO G3 specifically for business users. For example, it is to be used in the education, healthcare, training and marketing sectors in order to provide customers with an understanding of specific issues. The company emphasizes that the G3 is one of the first VR headsets for the business sector that has a powerful XR2 chipset. This is supposed to provide more computing power and thus create a better performance. It is supported by 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. On top of that, 3DoF is used. This means that the user can not only watch, but the head movements are also analyzed and transmitted. From experience, this feature provides more immersion in VR headsets.

It is not only the hardware that should ensure smooth use. PICO also wants to have created the best conditions in terms of software. Thus, the VR headset comes with the latest PICO OS. This wants to score with user-friendliness and thus create accessibility for people who are not yet familiar with the VR universe. On top of that, the PICO G3 should be able to convince with uncomplicated quick starts that do not require account registration. This should also be beneficial for the business sector, since many different users usually come together here. Last but not least, the G3 is supposed to come with a development kit especially for businesses. Here, companies can let off steam and create their very own VR experience.

Strong display and enduring battery

The display is also said to have changed quite a bit. This offers a full HD image and relies on Fresnel lenses, which are primarily to prevent distortions and scattering. Furthermore, the VR headset is supposed to score with its wearing comfort. According to PICO, it not only has comfortable face cushions that can be removed. The manufacturer also wants the weight to be balanced to prevent neck pain. The battery pack is placed on the back to ensure a natural head posture. Speaking of the battery. The PICO G3 uses a 5,300 mAh battery that is supposed to offer a lot of endurance. It should be possible to recharge it quickly via Quick Charge 3.0.

Price and availability

The manufacturer also wants to score with a fair price-performance ratio with the PICO G3. Thus, the VR headset is to be launched at an MSRP of 399 euros. Those who are interested can pre-order now. The delivery is supposed to start in May.
