Razer Zephyr: face mask with filter goes on sale

Razer announced the launch of the Razer Zephyr face mask, formerly known as Project Hazel, at RazerCon 2021. The stylish mask with interchangeable filters can be pre-ordered now, but it is also quite expensive at 110 Euros.

Razer Zephyr: Chic design, proud price

At the beginning of the year, Razer introduced the Zephyr, a particularly stylish face mask that marks a useful companion especially in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. In combination with the appealing design, the concept was particularly well received by gamers.

In the meantime, the Zephyr is ready for production, and the company has now confirmed the sales launch at the RazerCon in-house exhibition. However, the demand for the Razer breathing mask is so high that the accessory was completely sold out in the in-house store within a few minutes.

The special feature: The Razer Zephyr is a transparent reusable mask with replaceable N95 air filters. Thanks to 99% BFE (Bacterial Filtration Efficiency), almost all bacteria are completely filtered out. Although it does not meet the FFP2 standard, this means the Razer Zephyr is approved for public transport and indoor use in Germany.

Each laboratory-tested filter of the Razer Zephyr provides up to 3 days of optimal filtration, new filters can also be reordered in the manufacturer’s store.

Face mask with fans

The Razer Zephyr also features integrated fans that provide users with fresh air via two air exchange chambers. A multifunction button can be used to adjust the speed of the two fans (4200/6200 rpm).

In the lower mode, the battery life of the mask is supposed to be around 8 hours, while the runtime drops to around 3.5 hours in maximum rotation. Of course, the RGB lighting is typical for the manufacturer, but it should have an additional impact on the runtime of the Razer Zephyr. The mask is controlled via the Razer app, while it communicates with the smartphone via Bluetooth Low Latency.

Transparent design of the Razer Zephyr

Unlike normal face masks, the Razer Zephyr relies on a partially-transparent design, which means that your facial expressions can still be seen despite wearing the mask. Thanks to its coating, the air filter does not fog up, and the included anti-fog spray can be used to renew the coating if necessary.

An interior light ensures that one’s own face can be easily seen even in the dark. In addition, the filters rely on Razer Chroma RGB lighting and shine in 16.8 million colors while offering a range of spectacular effects.

Price and Availability

The Razer Zephyr face mask is available now on the manufacturer’s website. However, the contingent has long been exhausted, currently it is only possible to be notified when supplies arrive.

The mask costs around 110 euros. A set with 10 filters costs just under 35 Euros. Razer also offers a starter kit consisting of Zephyr and three filter packs for around 160 Euros.
