RedMagic DAO 150W: Innovative GaN charger with LED lighting launches in Germany

Manufacturer RedMagic proves that a GaN charger does not necessarily have to be an ugly, gray box. With the RedMagic DAO 150W, it is launching a charger that offers 150 watts of power, many connections and RGB lighting.

Anyone looking for a powerful power supply for notebooks and additional peripherals will get their money’s worth with the RedMagic DAO 150W. After the well-known gaming smartphones, the manufacturer now also offers gaming peripherals and monitors. Now a charger has been added to the line-up.

The AO 150W naturally stands out visually from the typical GaN chargers. The manufacturer has opted for a transparent housing with RGB lighting and an LCD display on the front, which creates a futuristic look.

A double chip design is intended to provide additional safety when charging, while the PowerDelivery 3.1 protocol enables a charging capacity of up to 140 watts. This should also make it easy to charge gaming notebooks.

In terms of connections, there is a DC pot, two USB Type-C ports and one USB-A port to choose from, allowing multiple devices to be charged simultaneously. However, the maximum charging power is limited to 150 watts.

Compact and customizable

Of course, the safety aspects are not neglected either. RedMagic promises double cooling, which, in conjunction with the specially developed Neocharger 4.0 technology, should keep the charger in check even at full speed.

The RedMagic DAO 150W is pleasantly compact at 101 mm x 71 mm 35 mm and features customizable RGB lighting and an adjustable LCD display. The latter shows the charging status of the various connections and can be customized using a button on the side and a smartphone app.

Price and availability

Following the launch of the RedMagic DAO 150W in the USA and Canada at the end of February, the GaN charger can now also be ordered in Germany and Europe, initially directly from the manufacturer. The recommended retail price is 199.00 euros, with a 20 euro discount for orders placed by March 31.

This means you are currently paying just 179.00 euros, which is of course significantly more than the comparable UGREEN Nexode 140W (our test), which is available for less than 100 euros.
