Samsung S9U: Giant business monitor announced

Your job requires a lot of multitasking and you are looking for a new monitor for your home office that offers you a corresponding overview? Then Samsung might have the right model for you with its huge S9U.  We take a closer look at the upcoming monitor at a proud price.

High resolution and lots of overview

Samsung’s upcoming business monitor comes in dimensions that are anything but typical. Thanks to a screen size of 49 inches, which comes in an aspect ratio of 32:9, you can keep a lot of open windows in view here. Thus, especially multitaskers are well served with this model. The QLED-based monitor offers a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels so that you can see everything in sharp focus. The curvature radius of 1,800R also creates a real feeling of being in the middle of things. That the monitor is especially suitable for creative people like photographers and videographers becomes clear not least in the color reproduction.

The color space coverage in the DCI-P3 range of 95 percent in combination with HDR ensures not only bright, but also colorful images. Thanks to QLED technology, you should also be spared from ugly clouding. The connectivity is also impressive. Thanks to its extensive interfaces, you can connect several sources to the S9U and switch between them easily. On top of that, Samsung wants to make sure that you can listen to something without PC speakers on the table with integrated speakers. Michael Vorberger, Head of B2B & B2C Sales, Professional Display Solutions & Consumer Displays at Samsung Electronics GmbH says in this regard:

“Whether laptop, PC, smartphone or external SSD – screen content today comes from a variety of sources. Therefore, in addition to an excellent image display, connectivity as well as convenient switching between different devices are important features of modern monitors.”

Furthermore, he praises the new business monitor in large format as follows:

“The Samsung S9U offers a wide range of connectivity options, KVM switch and other features that enable convenient, seamless multitasking on just one screen.”

Extensive connectivity

.
So that you can connect many different sources, the monitor comes with plenty of connectivity options. In addition to display port, it offers 2x HDMI port as well as USB-A and USB-C inputs. Especially the USB-C port offers several possibilities that go beyond the mere image transfer. You can also simultaneously supply the connected device with up to 90 watts of power via USB. Especially notebook users will be happy about that. The Samsung S9U also comes with a LAN port, which provides a practical network connection.

In combination with the USB-C port, the large monitor then becomes a whole docking station that not only supplies your computer with power, but also with Internet at the same time. A special highlight is certainly the KVM switch that Samsung installs here. This ensures that you can control two connected sources with your mouse and keyboard. The one-touch button also sounds practical. It is located on the bottom of the screen and allows you to easily switch back and forth between the sources.

Easy on the eyes

Of course, a competitive business monitor must also be able to be easy on the eyes. After all, you should be able to work on it for many hours without suffering from headaches. Samsung also knows this and relies on its in-house Eye Comfort technology. This consists of a flicker-free technology and an eye-saver mode.

While Flicker-Free is designed to reduce screen flicker to prevent premature eye fatigue, Eye Saver mode reduces blue light. The curvature of the monitor is also supposed to ensure eye protection. Thus, Samsung promises that you always have the focus on the screen and are not unnecessarily distracted.

Also interesting for gamers

Should you like to rededicate your home office into your gaming area after work, the S9U should probably also meet these demands. This is not only evident in the response time of 4 ms. A refresh rate of 120 Hz should also provide a lot of gaming fun thanks to smooth moving images.

Those interested in the business monitor won’t have to wait too much longer. Starting in December, the large screen should be on dealer shelves. The RRP of 1,399.00 euros is quite sporty. We are curious whether Samsung will deliver in view of the hefty price.
