Skoda: Seven-seater electric SUV presented

Skoda has unveiled the Vision 7S, a large electric SUV that seats seven. The car is scheduled to come onto the market in 2026.

Modular e-drive kit

Czech company Skoda is part of the VW Group and is relying on the modular e-drive kit, on which most of the VW Group’s electric cars are based, for its new electric SUV. However, the platform is modified for the Vision 7S: The overhangs are increased. This allows Skoda to create space for three rows of seats on a length of just under five meters. By comparison, the VW ID.3, also based on the e-drive kit, is 4.3 meters long and thus noticeably shorter than the Vision 7S.

There is little luxury in the car’s large interior. It is equipped with a nearly nine-inch instrument display with a head-up display, as well as a nearly fifteen-inch display in the center of the dashboard, which is intended for the infotainment system. The only extra the car offers is a relax mode, in which the steering wheel retracts and the seats can be turned. Thought this mode is mainly for loading breaks.

Recycled material and 600 kilometer range

Another equipment material of the car attracts more attention. For example, Skoda claims to be relying more heavily on recycled materials in the Vision 7S. The floor, for example, is to be made from recycled car tires. This would make the car sustainable in several respects.

In addition, there is a battery with a capacity of 89 kilowatt hours, which should enable a range of up to 600 kilometers. This is 100 kilometers higher than that of the E-SUV from Hummer. The maximum charging power will be 200 kilowatts, according to Skoda, indicating that the vehicle’s battery can be charged in a comparatively short time.

Price and availability

Skoda has not yet provided any information on the price of the SUV. The only thing that is clear so far is that interested parties will have to be patient for quite a while yet: The market launch is planned for 2026. The features of the vehicle could change quite a bit by then. So anyone interested in a contemporary electric SUV can remain curious.
