Sonos Ace: New over-ear headphones with aptX Lossless, 3D audio and more

Manufacturer Sonos is known for its high-quality audio products. In February, the company announced that it would be releasing its first headphones in 2024. These are called Sonos Ace and have now been officially unveiled. The over-ear headphones come with aptX Lossless, offer 3D audio and an innovative design.

Sonos Ace presented

Sonos’ entry into the headphone segment has been confirmed and goes by the name of Sonos Ace. As always, the manufacturer doesn’t do things by halves in terms of quality and functionality and is launching, at least on paper, an over-ear headphone that wants to be at the very top of the game.

The Ace features lossless 3D audio, first-class active noise canceling (ANC) and an Aware mode, while the new TrueCinema technology is designed to provide a thrilling home cinema experience.

the headphones weigh 312 grams and are said to offer a high level of wearing comfort thanks to removable foam ear pads with imitation leather cover and adjustable size.

Sonos has equipped the Ace with dynamic drivers with a diameter of 40 mm, which are designed to deliver precise and clear sound across the entire sound spectrum. The drivers should also be able to reproduce bass in particular with clarity and detail.

AptX Lossless is supported for high-resolution sound, which allows music to be streamed in CD quality without loss. Motion sensors also allow 3D surround sound including head tracking, while the sound can be adjusted to your own preferences using the equalizer in the Sonos app.

From the soundbar to the headphones

The sound of a compatible Sonos soundbar can be transferred to the Sonos Ace at the touch of a button, including 3D audio with Dolby Atmos and all formats, i.e. movies and series, games or music.

Available later this year, the brand new TrueCinema technology from Sonos precisely analyzes the environment and reproduces complete surround sound, enabling realistic, room-filling sound.

From a technical point of view, Bluetooth Multipoint and wear detection are also included. This means that playback is automatically paused when you take the headphones off and restarted as soon as you put them back on.

Around 30 hours of battery life is said to be possible with active noise suppression, while Fast Charge charges the headphones for three hours of music playback in just three minutes.

Price and availability

The new Sonos Ace are now available to pre-order in black and white from the Sonos online store. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price is 499 euros. Delivery is expected to take place on June 05, 2024.
