Samsung Odyssey Neo G7: 43-inch gaming monitor with 144 Hz and 4K unveiled

At CES 2023 in Las Vegas, Samsung already presented many exciting new monitors at the beginning of the month. However, they have kept a special treat for themselves: The new Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 comes with a 43-inch display, mini-LED and a refresh rate of 144 Hz at 4K UHD resolution. Samsung’s Smart Hub for smart TV functions is right there on top.

Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 in detail

With the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7, you can expect a pretty impressive gaming monitor, at least on paper. The new model bears the type designation “G70NC” and marks the first flat mini-LED monitor from the manufacturer from Korea.

The Neo G7 has a diagonal of 43 inches and could compete with many TVs. A 4K UHD resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels is offered, and the monitor also supports VESA Display HDR600 and HDR10+ for particularly high-contrast pictures.

Samsung’s Quantum Matrix technology is supposed to provide even better contrasts with Quantum Mini LEDs – however, the press release does not provide details about the number of dimming zones. But it does provide information about the contrast ratio, which is quite impressive at 4,250:1 statically and 1,000,000:1 dynamically.

The DCI-P3 color space is covered by 95 percent. The refresh rate is 144 hertz, while an MPRT response time of 1 millisecond underpins the gaming suitability. AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and a dedicated Game Bar with important settings are also offered.

Made for Gaming

Thanks to HDMI 2.1, gamers of Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 can also look forward to a 4K picture with 120 hertz. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions are also supposed to make mobile games displayable on the large screen – alternatively, a controller can be connected directly to the monitor via Bluetooth.

This is also practical because the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 has the Samsung Gaming Hub. Among other things, games from Xbox Game Pass or NVIDIA GeForce Now can be streamed via the smart TV platform – directly to the screen, of course.

In addition, streaming apps like Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube and many more can be installed on the monitor.

In addition to no less than two HDMI 2.1 ports, the Neo G7 has a DisplayPort 1.4 port, two USB 3.0 ports and an RJ45 Ethernet LAN port. Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 round out the connectivity. The Neo G7 can be mounted to a wall via a 200 x 200 mm VESA hole or offers the option to tilt the display with the stand.

Price and Availability

The 43-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 gaming monitor is expected to hit the handle before the end of the first quarter of 2023. Details about a concrete date or price are unfortunately not mentioned by the manufacturer so far. However, the official product website provides some additional details.
