Scope of delivery

  • The monitor is packed in its own foil
  • The stand is magnetic and freely adjustable
  • Two USB Type-C as well as one mini HDMI cable included

Opening the box, the 15.6-inch monitor jumps out at us at first glance, which is additionally wrapped in a foil to prevent transport damage. The mini HDMI-to-HDMI cable and two USB Type-C cables (1x data cable, 1x power cable) are located in a white box below the InnoCN 15A1F. The 30W charger, which has a USB Type-C port, and the magnetic screen stand are packed separately. A user manual with German translation rounds off the scope of delivery.

So while the white box of the InnoCN 15A1F comes across rather plain, the contents have it all. Additional money for more cables can thus be saved.

Optics & Workmanship

  • High-quality optics
  • Slim edges on the sides, although the bottom edge is significantly thicker
  • Strong magnet from the stand

Looking at the front of the screen, it is noticeable that the edges on the sides of the display are quite narrow. However, the lower edge, where the InnoCN inscription is located, is very thick in comparison. Furthermore, all corners of the screen are rounded. If you turn the monitor over, you can see the back made of matte brushed metal. The same color choice also applies to the monitor stand, which gives a very good first impression purely visually.

We are positively surprised by the strength of the magnet in the stand – we can quite easily attach it to the designated area on the monitor. This spot is marked with a circle on the back. After fixing, this can be tilted both upwards and downwards to influence the angle. Moreover, the edge on the stand is rubberized so that no scratches should be created when placing it.

Features & connections

  • Stereo speakers available
  • Signal transmission via mini HDMI or USB Type-C possible

The InnoCN 15A1F has one speaker each on the left as well as the right side. With 1.5 watts, the stereo speakers are acceptable in volume, but you should better switch to Bluetooth headphones for a clean sound. On the top right of the monitor is another volume control and next to it the power button. The latter also serves as an input button for navigating the OSD (on-screen display), while the volume rocker serves as a forward/backward function in this case. When the InnoCN 15A1F is in use, a small blue LED between the two buttons lights up.

On the left side, we find the total of three connectors of the portable display. We can choose between two USB Type-C ports and a mini HDMI as input signal here. Preferably, the middle USB Type-C port should be used in conjunction with the data cable as input signal, whereas the lower Type-C port with power cable should be used for power supply. However, both ports were able to output a full-fledged picture with the data cable in the test. Consequently, no picture signal is transmitted when only the USB Type-C power cable is used. A bit of a shame: the InnoCN 15A1F does not have a headphone jack.

Display

  • High-contrast and color-clear picture
  • OSD kept very simple with many icons

The glossy 15.6-inch OLED display resolves with 1920 on 1080 pixels at 60 hertz. The aspect ratio is the usual 16:9 format. Color-wise, the colors are excellent and produce truly stunning images thanks to the OLED. The brightness of the InnoCN 15A1F is specified with up to 400 nits, which is also sufficient for everyday use. However, it is much more difficult to read texts on the display due to reflections if there is strong incidence of light. HDR is also included in this portable screen and should be activated in the OSD since it is deactivated ex-factory. After activating it, the picture looks even more coherent and texts and symbols are also displayed sharper.

To access the InnoCN 15A1F’s settings, we have to open the OSD by pressing the power button. Here we have a total of 10 menus at our disposal, where we can adjust the brightness, contrast as well as the volume, among other things. All menus are kept quite simple and mainly signal the desired menu item via icons. The lack of a bloated menu with a lot of text is therefore welcome at this point. Nevertheless, the menu navigation via the buttons is a bit sluggish, so that one does not like to navigate through the menus.

Practical test

We now move on to the practical test and check how the InnoCN 15A1F can be integrated into everyday life and whether it can even be used to play a game or two pleasantly. Since the portable screen does not have an integrated battery, we will also deal with the power consumption separately in particular.

Commissioning & Gaming

  • Ideal for expanding the screen area for mobile work
  • Gaming feels very smooth despite 60 Hz due to OLED

For daily work, the portable monitor is ideal. Simply connect the monitor and after a few seconds, the signal of the second device is automatically transferred. A driver installation is not necessary. Especially for websites, the vertical mode is the optimal solution to display as much text as possible on one screen page. If you want to quickly change the application area, the monitor can simply be rotated.

The OLED display also pays off in gaming. The manufacturer states that the built-in 60 Hz OLED display is equivalent to a 90 Hz LCD display. We cannot verify this information, but gaming actually feels a bit smoother on the InnoCN 15A1F than the usual 60 Hertz of conventional monitors. We played Rocket League, Forza Horizon 5 and Battlefield 2042. For this test, the portable monitor was connected to the PC and temporarily configured as the main monitor.

Power consumption

  • No built-in battery
  • Powered by AC adapter or connected USB device
  • Test with streaming of a Youtube video

To test the InnoCN 15A1F’s power consumption without a power supply, we tested it on both a laptop (Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro X) and a smartphone (OnePlus 8T). Under Windows, we set up the 15A1F as a secondary monitor and only connected it via the included USB Type-C cable. When connecting the monitor to a smartphone, the screen content is automatically mirrored. Both devices were set to 50% screen brightness for the test.

As a test scenario, we watched a Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay as a YouTube video in Full HD for over 30 minutes and then read the battery level. To get a better impression of the 15A1F’s power consumption, we performed the same test without a portable monitor:

Connected via Brightness of the 15A1F Battery status before test Battery status after test Difference
Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro X 100% 94 78 16 %
25 % 74 63 11 %
without monitor 62 55 7 %
OnePlus 8T 100 % 70 45 25 %
25 % 44 26 18 %
without monitor 95 91 4 %

InnoCN 15A1F review: conclusion

The InnoCN 15A1F is a rugged, superbly crafted mobile monitor that literally conjures up chic images on the table. The OLED display offers optically detailed colors and a sharp resolution. The equipment is also on a high level, since all accessories are included and no cables have to be purchased separately. The ergonomic design is also praiseworthy: The InnoCN 15A1F is ideal for mobile use, while the adjustable magnetic base allows for different viewing angles. This definitely contributes to comfort when working for longer periods of time.

On the other hand, we see potential for optimization on the front in the area of the bottom bezel, as this could be perceived as too chunky for some. A narrower bezel would make the 15A1F look even more aesthetically pleasing. Furthermore, a built-in battery would be the perfect extra to not have to resort to another device or to be able to discharge it faster when there is no outlet available. We would also consider a headphone jack on the left side useful for future models.

All in all, the InnoCN 15A1F is a colorful screen thanks to its OLED display and can expand one’s workspace sensibly in no time. Especially due to the quick switch between landscape and portrait mode, all application areas (e.g. Photoshop & surfing) can be covered very well.

Excellent OLED display for working, streaming and occasional gaming! Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks in mobility.
